good story so far. not to anger the other reviewers, but, I don't have a problem believing Buffy and Giles would leave Angel to die. After all, they left fred to die. hell Illiria should have smacked Giles around some more. anyway looking forward to the rest of the story

Well since I personally believe that Filmtheory is brilliant, I have to go along with alot of the things he said, but I also have to side with you on Buffy not all gung ho to save Angel. This quote, is why "Oh, so you decided, just like Angel, what was ‘best’ for me!" Like you I have also noticed that the men in Buffy's life tend to decide for her instead of talking with her and I can understand why she was more concerned about why Spike hadn't returned for her. The girl may be a fighter but she is still a girl who thinks with her heart before her brain. I am also glad that you have decided to switch formats, because I am a big fan of the descriptive details and in this format those are really hard to add in! Another great piece all in all!

This episode had its ups and downs. It moved the story along some, but not as mush as I’d expect for one of this side. Angel is still more or less out of the picture, which may disconcert some fans. I, however, find it refreshing and enjoy the development of the secondary characters. However, that development seems shaky at times. Lorne not only being in Rome but also the exact same place as the AI crew seemed a bit too coincidental. Coincidences can be okay when necessary and not overused. Lorne and Giles unexpectedly being in Rome then Buffy and Dawn happening to go to Giles when the AI crew was there. The Giles and Buffy coincidences I can hack as they were important to the plot. Lorne wasn’t. Also, why did Lorne wait so long to use his high note to escape the W&H guards? Lorne’ dialogue was definitely on, especially “Huh…interesting. Well, bye!” had some trouble with Giles not wanting to save Angel, but I can get past it. I had way too much trouble with Buffy not wanting to help Angel. Angry I understand. But leaving Angel in hell is too hard for me to believe, especially given Buffy’s own experiences. Spike’s line “Knew it was a bad way to break the news” was very funny. You write Andrew spectacularly. I know it’s a bit late, but you may want to reconsider script format. As someone who is trying to be a screenwriter, I know reading something in script form can be less captivating than something in narrative form. If you wanted to be a screenwriter and likes the practice, I could understand. But efiction makes using that format very difficult and you’re not even using slug lines, so this is not a great way to practice. Still, I enjoyed the story overall.

Author's Response: After discussing it with Painbow, we decided to switch to narrative for the rest of the series. That's partially why there's been such a delay for the next episode. I had it written in script, so going back and doing the narrative has taken awhile (not to mention my computer being sick for about a month). Yea the coincidence was a bit much as I look back on things, even moreso when I look at the season we laid out and I see how very little Lorne gets to do. As for Buffy's anger, as hard as it was to deal, I wanted to stick to the canon they'd established in Damage. I hated the idea that Buffy wouldn't at least try to contact Angel and would accept second hand information, but on the other hand it gave Painbow a chance to write Spike cussing Buffy out, something we've both wanted forever. This was also a great way to kill off Bangel and Spuffy quick and easy so we could get on with the rest of our story. Thanks for reading.
