I like the parts with Conner, I'm glad the stuff from Quortoth is still around in him. I love seeing that. I liked the Illyria part too.
Author's Response: Yeah, the Quar'toth-ness should still be lurking around him. I'm glad you liked the Illyria part. I was going for a wtf moment at the beginning there. |

When I started this chapter I was like huh? I went back to the last chapter and reminded myself that it was Lorne and it must be what he is reading. (That's what I get for having to take a break during this story and come back to it!) I love your depiction of Illyria. The action is intense. Connor's willingness to sacrifice the men fighting under him for the greater good... I such a telling moment for him. I love the fact that you are showing the side that survived in Quar-toth. Lorne's reading is much more detailed that what he normally gets. I love the fact you are sharing it. I'm trying to remember a time where they showed how Lorne does a reading on AtS and I really can't think of an example?! The insight that you give to Lorne makes him much more interesting. The fight between Angle and Lorne is perfect! I am glad that Lorne spoke up against Angel's wishes and told him what he felt even though it wasn't what Angel wanted to hear. I love the chat between Faith and Lorne. Revealing the fact that Faith killed The Mayor so subtly is very cool. Action Faith is what we are familiar with. The quiet thoughtful Faith is what I want to know more about. I love action Faith too! But I like seeing another side of her too. Damn! No Spaith? I'm am seriously loving this story! What the heck is Lorne up to now?
Author's Response: I really wanted to throw people for a loop with that first part, so thanks for the “huh?” I thought it’d be great to have a big battle scene that seemed totally out of place. The part of Connor that survived Quar’Toth is an important factor in his character. You’ll see more of it. Thanks for the comment on Faith killing the Mayor. Most people didn’t like how I handled that. Lorne is up to something. Other than that, no comment. |

Once again, I say WOW. The first segment had me confused at first, but I figured it out. I also think it answered a question I’ve been asking. The battle scene was fantastic. Your action sequences are always great, but this was a different level. The large-scale clashing of demons and people in battle in the rain. Wow. Lorne’s reading and his take on that reading were fabulous. Some people may think he seemed out of character, but I don’t. I think he’s pissed at Angel for what Angel made him do to Lindsey. And now, he’s thinking if Angel will sacrifice others to work in the gray for the greater good, he has to make sacrifices himself. Lorne, like your Dawn and your Connor, has changed. He shouldn’t be exactly the same as he was on Angel. Glossing over Faith killing the mayor was disappointing. This is supposed to be her story, right? I suppose you’re making the point that for Faith, the struggle and drama happened before she killed him. Still, I could have used a nice decapitation. Also, you’re such a tease with that Faith/ Spike scene. I really wanted them to get it on.
Author's Response: Yes, I answered your question. You're very clever. Now shut the hell up about it already. I'm so happy that the big battle scene worked. I'd just read another biography of Richard III (who I think was a wonderful and just king, but that's a conversation for a different time). I wanted to write something like the accounts I read of Barnett, Tewksbury, and Bosworth. As for your other questions, keep reading. |

At first, I was wondering WTF was going on in the first part of this chapter. I hadn't caught on that this was Connor's future that Lorne was seeing. Illyria is finally the bad guy in the future? I was hoping that she wouldn't be, but it fits. I really hate the way Angel treats Lorne. Would he treat the rest of his old gang the same way? It seems that he still goes off the deep end when it comes to his son. Someone needs to slap him silly. He calls these people his family, and he treats them terribly. Wes, Cordy, Gunn, they all suffered because of him. The tragically flawed hero. OK, I'll quit harping on Angel's faults. But you do it well. The scene between Faith and Spike is hot. That is exactly what they would do. Too bad Willow interrupted them.
Author's Response: I was actually hoping people would be all "WTF?" at the first part. I just wanted to rip the story out of where it was and confuse the hell out of everyone with this battle scene that totally didn't seem to fit. Yeah, Angel's a bit of a bastard to Lorne. Then again, as you noted, he's pretty crappy to his whole "family." I'd even argue that his treatment of Connor throughout season 4 was unfair and pretty much brought about all that happened. But that's a debate for another time. So happy you liked the hot Spike/ Faith scene. I'll try to work in some more in the future if I can. |

I was absolutely enthralled with the battle scene from Lorne’s vision. I especially loved the aspect of the vision that dealt with the two realities, Connor’s birth from Darla, Connor’s birth from the created memories. Without this scene it would be difficult to understand why Lorne ends up doing what he does…which in itself was a great twist I wasn’t expecting. Lorne showed a side we haven’t seen since the night he shot Lindsay. But this took Lorne to a whole new level as he acted on his own, and not on the orders of someone else, deep shock!
Oh and hot Faith/Spike scene, sorry it was interrupted! I always thought there should have been something between those two.
Author's Response: I’m so glad you liked the battle scene! I was reading a biography of Richard III and was overcome with a deep desire to write a medieval-like battle scene. However, I was worried about leaving the scene in the story because it gives away so much. It explains why (as Willow mentioned an ep or two ago) demons in Brazil have gone quiet. It also gives away that Illyria is still alive and will be evil when we see her again. I’d also like that as far back as episode one, I referenced that Illyria had disappeared in South America. I’m glad you liked the Spike/Faith lust. I received an e-mail opposing the coupling. Also, I’m glad you like ass-kicking Lorne. I’m considering making him a regular if there’s a season two. However, I have a lot of potential added regulars to think about. Dana is among them. Let me know what you think about those. |
