I felt connected with Buffy, and her pain at losing Angel, again. She had already lost him once, when he broke up with her and she was finally finding a way to deal with it. This writing reinforces how dancing with him at prom, although a moment of undiluted bliss, served to regain the intensity of her pain that had just started to subside. Beautiful.
