Reviews for Running on Faith, Season One

Another one I enjoyed. Dawn is growing up. I get the mature feeling, reading her parts, etc.

Author's Response: I wanted to shower a more mature and self-assured Dawn. Don't get mne wrong, the insecurity is still there, but she can control it. I guess she's kind of my story's Willow.

wow this just keeps getting better, Ioved the Buffy/Riley action on the plane and was actually gutted when they stopped- but good writing! This baby killings terrified me and made em feel sick to my stomach, as a mother of a two yr old that hit a little too close to home but I thinl it worked for the storyline, I just wasn't expecting it to be so dark. Over all I think it was an excellent conclusion to the storyline.

Author's Response: yeah, I wanted to give everyone the feleing of "Yeah, it's wrong for Riley to do this, BUT GO FOR IT!" Then I wanted to pull the plug on them. You're almost up to my most controversial episode, so please keep going- LOL.

Author's Response: Forgot to mention- sorry for the sick to the stomach baby-bit. I was going for scary and horrible, but I guess I should warn parents of babies to skip a section. Sorry about that.

Dawn's self reliance in this story is great. She has matured into a woman and out of her whiny brat phase. Buffy jealousy over Faith is so perfect. If her men aren't falling all over themselves about her she gets miffed! Connor accidentally killing the witch and his animalistic rage on Ethane was chilling. Great chapter I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Author's Response: I definitely want to show Dawn gradually growing up in this story. I too thought she was a whiny brat on the show. If I was going to write a story with her in it, I really needed her to grow. But I didn't want it to be like *Pow*- all grown up. I wanted it to be a process. As for Connor, I want to show he's a lot like his dad. he too has a demon inside scratching to get out. And it will if he's not careful.

Can We Just Pretend was the prefect name for this chapter. As usual, I loved this ending. I knew you could end a story with the cliff-hanger, but this ending is as good as any of them. Dawn and Buffy's moment of bonding and the "one good hug." Man, that was awesome. I liked Ethan covering for Dawn's keyness and talking about the fairy costume. It was a very cool bit of inserting Dawn into pre-Dawn episodes. I often wondered where she'd fit in to the old stories. Fairy costume- brilliant! The babies- yeesh- very scary, very creepy, very sick- but all in a good way. Connor's "Slayer search and rescue" line- lmao! You were very clever remembering Buffy's issues with Riley and Faith. that definitely played into that moment that happened. This was another spectacular chapter. Filled with action, angst, and reconciliation. Fabulous.

Author's Response: Thanks for loyally reading and reviewing. I, like Dawn, thought the sisters deserved one good hug. I really enjoyed thinking up what could have happend when Dawn and Ethan met previously. Sorry about the yeesh, but glad it was in a good way.

The baby thing and the rescue, whoa. Kind of made me shudder. Also, you knew that Buffy still had feelings for Riley back in the sixth season. So she would totally do this. Riley is safe to her. You know that they have to stop, but on some level, you don't want them to because Buffy really needs someone at that moment. Really well played. The funniest line though was "Slayer Search and Rescue" or something like that. Great line.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm so happy the baby thing was too, too over-the-top. Also, thanks for the "Really well played" on Buffy and Riley.

OMFG – You shocked the hell out of me with the Buffy/Riley moment. I of course sensed a tension, and assumed that it would stay just that, tension. I was in no way prepared for what happened. But I don't want to make it sound as if it came out of left-field without substance to back it up. Buffy spent her life fighting and then trying to escape this demon world she has now been thrown back into. Therefore it makes sense that Buffy would cling to the one piece of normality that she had in her tumultuous past. The title of the episode says it all. And of course I am happy with the Dawn resolution thus far, though I assume there is more story to tell where she is concerned, in the future. Great ep!

Author's Response: There is more Dawn story, yes. I’m glad Buffy and Riley’s moment was shocking, yet still had a firm foundation. I didn’t spend a lot of time with them because, in this story, they’re tertiary characters. Besides, much of their story has already been told. I’ve tried with little success to make my titles as witty and multi-layers as the show’s were. Although “Can We Pretend” was kind of obvious, I’m glad it was at least relevant.
