Author's Response: I don't think I could pull off tawdry if I tried (and I mean that as a compliment to those that can write the hot steamy stuff). So thanks for the support on what I worried would be a boring sex scene.

Nice banter and great transition from the Connor/Dawn storyline--fleshing it out with the W&H gang. Angel seemed awfully harsh with Wes, but maybe that's just my soft spot for the former Watcher coming through. I guess Wes feels really damn guilty about the Connor thing for him to take Angel's comments. Nice set up of the issues between them, though.

I really like Dawn and Connor's relationship in this fic. The way she got her way about going for a walk was so perfect. And you still write "intimate" scenes with beautifully realistic imagery. But I'm not sure at this point whether Dawn knew they were attacked by a demon and if she doesn't know, then why not? But I'll keep reading to see.

This was an awesome chapter! It's filled with the banter that made the show so gripping. The cliffhanger ending was such a cool moment. I'm dying to see what happens when Dawn and co. find out about Connor's real dad.

Many people, and I include myself in this, use sex scenes as an excuse to write soft-core porn. I love this chapter because it was sentimental, sweet, yet still very sexy.

Just reread it and I have chills all over again. I wanted to mention how perfectly you captured the moments immediately following the kiss. "They stood there in silence, neither sure what to say, words unable to compare to the conversation they had just voiced in a kiss." Truer words have never been written. I still can't believe you managed to write exactly what it feels like.

I am in complete awe of this passage. I have often thought about writing a true first kiss, but have never felt capable of expressing the myriad sensations and emotions. You have done it damn near perfectly. Not tawdry and superficial like in romance novels, not overly technical like in most mainstream fiction. Just pure, simple, beautiful, and real. I am sure to read this passage many times because it made me feel that expectant knot in my stomach and revived that nostaligic feeling of my own first kiss. Bless you for providing such a treasure of a moment. If you ever have any suggestions for me on rewriting some of my "kissing scenes", I bow at your altar.

Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked it. You know how much your opinion means to me. Like I said to filmtheory, I was concerned about length because it's almost completely without dialogue. I was sure it would end up boring people and sound too much like a romance novel. I actually had that chapter written awhile before I posted it, nervous about how it would be received. So, I'm thinking it went pretty well….I'm very relieved!
