Reviews for Running on Faith, Season One

Quortoth 01/11/06 - 12:45PM 3: Episode 3: Everybody’s Got an Angle Signed
I liked the conversation between Conner and Spike the most. And Conner would be a funny terrorist.

Author's Response: Much like the Dawn/Connor repartee of the previous chapter, I wanted some funny lines between Spike and Connor.

Gah! Another great chapter! I love the Spike Connor interaction. Very funny. I am glad that you chose to have Amy in this. She always brings in another level of chaos. I can't wait to find out who the Risen One is... Very cryptic and Giles-esque. :D

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I had a lot of fun writing the Spike/Connor interactions, so I'm really happy they came off as funny. I like bringing back old villains, thus Amy's inclusion. Hopefully the Risen ONe will live up to your expectations.

Car chase on top of jumping out of an airplane, on top of everything else. And Spike goodness. You really capture him in this chapter. Just enough snarkiness, but not over the top. I hate it when authors do that, because you do get tired of it after a while. And I like it that Dawn escapes from Amy. She's grown up now, so let's give her a chance to prove herself, and you did. Bad guys still rule. And the introduction of Eve? Very well done. Although I still do not like her, but not in a bad way, but in a way of please kill her off at some point. Well, maybe she does serve some kind of purpose. You always have to have an evil lawyer around to stir things up.

Author's Response: I really worked on my action sequences and villains, so I'm especially happy that they "still rule." I agree that Dawn is groing up. She'll continue to do so throughout the series. Thanks for saying I got Spike's snarkiness just right.

Yet again i can only descibe that as WOW! I wish i could read the chapter's with Riley in them as I think he is my future husband but as they are rated R and i am only 13 I can'y but amazing

Author's Response: Thanks for the latest wow review. In the future, I'll try to write a PG-13 Riley chapter.

Again, very well done. Another WOW chapter. You are such a good author, and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

Author's Response: Thanks again for your review and kind comments.

Loved this chapter! It was totally action packed. Spike’s reaction to Riley was great. Connor trying to impress Buffy was great. The additions of the two women villains should prove for some definite excitement. The action sequences were also awesome. The tunnel chase had me breathless and the last bit (don’t want to give anything away in the review) was awesome and has me craving more. One more thing. I think I picked up on an inside joke. As huge fan of the character Connor, I know that the first episode VK appeared as him was the 19th episode of season 3. When Connor remembered the license plate as being EPS319, was that a shout out? (In other words EPS= Episode and 319= 3.19).

Author's Response: Thanks for the review and thanks for catching the inside joke. The license plate EPS319 is in fact a shout out to adult Connor’s first episode. There’s a couple more inside jokes in the next chapter. Let me know if you get those. Also glad to read you liked the action sequences and cliffhanger. I live for that kind of cheap

In retrospect, it’s hard to believe how important this episode is. You reintroduce Eve in an interesting way and give birth to the Spike & Connor dynamic. I would have liked a little more of Faith, even though her story isn’t as action oriented.

Author's Response: Glad you like how Eve got worked in. The Spike & Connor dynamic will be in flux for most of the season, so I'm glad they interest you.

I am absolutely enjoying the action in this story. You don't see a lot of that here, and I know one of the reasons is that it can be hard to write it convincingly, but you have a definite knack for it. You also don't let the action overtake the importance of the character development and interaction. Simply great!

Author's Response: Thanks again for your complimentary review. I actually feared that the action was overtaking the character development, so I’m glad to see I’ve possible found a balance.
