A sweet story in the end. I love your handling of characters and humor (Whedonverse characters are each inseparable from their peculiar senses of humor). A few quibbles: You should credit the source of lyrics (and your title in this case is from those lyrics). In chapter two you have "recurring" instead of "recuring." (They mean different things.) In chapter 3, it "Whistler," not "THE Whistler." And there are two things wrong with writing: "What is going on here?," she said. It should be: "What is going on here?" she asked. Note that I not only changed "said" to "asked" but I removed the comma from after the "?" because once you end a quotation with a "?" or a "!" you shouldn't add any other punctuation. Again, though, I find this story entertaining and well plotted.
