Not sure which browser or which version you're using? On most browsers (probably all, but we haven't seen them all), you can very easily find out. One of the options at the top of your browser window (along with options such as File, Edit, View, etc.) will be Help (it's probably the furthest to the right). Click that, and one of the choices (probably the last one) will be About [your browser]. Click on it, and it will clearly tell you your full browser name and version number. (If it says something like 5.01.2919.6307, only the first three digits are necessary, such as 5.01). And in case you're wondering, Netscape Navigator and Netscape Communicator are basically different names for the same thing.
Not sure which operating system you're using? If you're on a personal computer, you're almost certainly running a version of Windows, most likely Windows 98 or 95. When you start up your computer, that big screen full of blue clouds will tell you (or go to Start at the bottom of your screen and click on Help; you'll see a smaller version of the same thing). If you're on a Mac (or an IMAC), then your operating system is a version of Mac OS (likely Mac OS 8). Again, there should be an obvious screen when you start up your computer that will tell you, and there's surely a Help link somewhere that will tell you.
