Please note: Ever since I moved, I have been having problems accessing Yahoo mail. If you are trying to reach me, I may not be able to reply for a while until I can correctly diagnose this problem and fix it, which won't be until after I find my Norton Utilities CD, which is in some box ... somewhere ....

Now Shooting: Episode 2

Latest Rumors:

This will be a short installment this week, but I wanted to post two reports from a location shoot on Tuesday.

Shoot report #1
Posted in cooperation with @ TV Zone

It was a car scene shoot at Rose & Beethoven, right next to a big park and baseball diamond, and not far from the golf course. They didn't start showing up until after nine, and virtually nothing happened until after eleven.

There were two large vans, some smaller ones, a silver car (a Chrysler?) on the shoot truck, and six motorcycle cops who seemed to be real cops. The director was a woman with streaky blondish brown hair and glasses. Eventually, three stand-ins that looked like Buffy, Xander, and Dawn got into the car and sat there for a long time while lots of people adjusted things outside the car.

The shoot truck with the stand-ins and the motorcycle cops finally drove around the block, and came back to "base."

Then Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendan, and Michelle Tractenberg got out of a white van. Sarah had her hair in a ponytail; it's gotten longer. She was wearing a sort of floaty pale blouse with red flowers on the front of it, brown slacks, and longish gold earrings. Nick was wearing a sleeveless undershirt and black pants (I could see his tattoo), and Michelle was wearing jeans and a green shirt. Michelle's hair is a few inches shorter and has highlights in it now.

They got in the car, Nick behind the wheel, Sarah in the passenger seat, and Michelle in the back, in the middle. Nick put a blue shirt on. Makeup people leaned into the car and did things. And then there was more driving around the area with the motorcycles while they were obviously filming a scene.

After about 45 minutes, they came back, and had lunch, and did it again for a shorter period. I saw Sarah eat lunch. And I saw Nick walking around with his script and rehearsing his lines.

I did get up the nerve to go across the street and say hi to a crew member while the shoot car was off shooting; she confirmed that they were taping Buffy (duh) but when I asked which episode, she said that they were "very early in the season." She wasn't at all forthcoming and wasn't interested in talking; she seemed wary of me. I asked one of the cops what was going on when the truck was back, and he said he didn't know.

At 2:30, the actors left and the crew were picking up orange pylons and breaking stuff down.

Shoot Report #2
Source name: Lurky the Demoness

Nothing earth-shattering to report I'm afraid. The scene they were shooting was with Xander, Buffy, and Dawn in Xander's silver car. I think they were supposed to be either driving to or from school since I saw MT's stand-in carrying a book bag. All the dialogue took place in the car, so I didn't hear anything. The car was sitting on top of a trailer, and the scene was shot as the trailer was driven up and down the street many, many times. NB was dressed in a blue shirt and dark pants. SMG was in a white blouse and dark pants. Her hair has grown longer and was up in a ponytail. MT was in blue jeans and a dark top. I can't be sure, but based on the pictures Leoff posted last week, it looked to me like all three actors were wearing the same outfits that they wore for the location shoot at Cal. State Univ. Northridge (a.k.a. the new Sunnydale high school).

This is a shot of the filming of the car scene.

Here you can see SMG, in a ponytail and light colored shirt, talking with the crew.

Join me in the Crypt of Decryption:

As an FYI, the scene that was shot probably involves Xander driving Buffy and Dawn to Sunnydale high School. It is Buffy's first day in her new position at the school, and Dawn is very excited that Buffy will be working so close.
