Steve: I think there's some inconsistency from episode to episode that's
caused some of the confusion. e.g., between As You Were and Normal Again,
you can't much tell that Buffy has a concern about Spike himself. It looks
more like she's concerned with herself, how being with Spike is hurting
*her*, and so on. There's been a huge amount of posting about this over
at televisionwithoutpity.com...
But I do like the B/S chemistry, and the fact that oddly enough, the Slayer
and the vampire do have some interesting, important things in common.
Things that neither of them may be able to get from anyone else. But the
storyline would need a whole interesting new direction to get Spuffy working
right. (So I'll start praying now for Season 7. Because I still think
Spuffy could have great potential.)
Thanks again for chatting with us!
Dallas Viewer: I know a lot of fans have commented on the Buffy/Spike
inconsistencies, but for me they really dont exist. Buffys
feelings for Spike have been plotted specifically to be all over the map.
Shes back from the dead, shes hurting, shes confused.
Not just about Spike, but about everything. Maybe those glasses will help
clear things up.
---------------------------------
Steve - will Dawn ever get more involved (perhaps as involved as she was
in season 5)???
Rack: We have plans for Dawn. Hee hee hee.
--------------------------------
Steve: dead things is the best ep of the season -i've said it before THANK
YOU!!!!!!!!!
Rack: Thanks. Its nice to know I managed to sneak in a good one.
So does that mean I can do a couple of bad episodes now? How much time
do I have before I have to cough up another good one? Cause thats,
like, work.
-----------------------------
Steve: Wouldn't Buffy be, like, dead (again) if Spike hadn't been there
this year? Yet, it hasn't even crossed Buffy's mind to be grateful to
Spike for his support this year, and especially when she was suicidal
during OMWF.
On the contrary, she treats Spike (who she still sees as just a "thing"
and therefore not worthy of respect or gratitude) like crap. And in As
You Were, she tells Spike that being with him is killing her. Now that's
ironic. I guess Buffy forgot that being with Spike, at least initially,
saved her this year.
Here's why I mention this. A lot of viewers--if the various BtVS web sites
are to be believed--find Buffy really **unlikable** lately--primarily
because she's been such a royal bitca with respect to Spike. (Gotta say,
this is the first season of BtVS where I just wanted to slap Buffy and
root for Spike!)
Okay, while I don't do spoilers, I gather some of Buffy's actions were
written deliberately, to get Spike really ticked off, setting the stage
for future developments. But did you guys really intend for us to sympathize
more with Spike than with Buffy at this point? Because I see a lot of
that pro-Spike/anti-Buffy sentiment on the boards lately.
Dallas Viewer: Buffy sure has been rough on Spike. But she recognizes
that, and knows deep down its wrong. This is particularly evident
in the final scene of Dead Things. On the other hand, Spike is a complicated
character. Hes trying to be good, but man does it go against his
nature as a vamp. Personally, Im rooting for these crazy kids to
work things out.
-------------------------------
Steve: *pictures Doug and the bass* mmmmmm. but you've got a name now,
huh? and you are going to make this act public?
Tralfamdore2001: Doug and I jam occasionally with James in his trailer.
Doug lays down the sweet funky bass, and I come in with the smooth lead.
Oh, did I mention we totally suck? James is brilliant, but Doug and I
are musically challenged, to say the least.
-------------------------------
Steve: oh, brave DeKnight coming in here after all the fuss over the Marti
interview...hee hee
Millers angel: Yeah, I was a bit surprised by all the fuss over
Martis interview. I read it, but didnt see why everyone was
so upset. What was the dealio?

From jrgriff: We Buffy fans haven't had a hint on the big Scooby death
in over a month. Please oblige!
Sorry, I've been a bit tongue-tied with all this Buffy-Angel camp hobnobbing
lately. But I can tell you this, from the rumor-as-fact mill: The Scooby
death is someone who is very much loved, and it triggers the ultimate
ugliness in another Scooby.
From kellym: Is Anya ever coming back to Buffy? I miss her.
Yes, but she'll be entirely different from when we last saw her. Xander
better run. Fast.
From yemaya_77: Does Spike die this season...or maybe next?
Not that I've heard. James has already signed a contract that takes him
through the end of next season.
From natalie24922: Was Marti Noxon positive about no more Buffy/Spike?
PLEASE TELL ME!
She made it pretty clear that they're not dabbling in any positive Spuffiness
from here on out. The upcoming episodes bring back more of the Spike of
old.
From turnofthecentury:
What about Giles?
Marti said it has been very difficult to get him back on this side of
the pond, so they haven't yet been able to do it. But she said nearly
the same thing about Marc Blucas two weeks before his episode aired--so
take it with a shovel of salt.

I've just gotten some new information on the Season Finale (and confirmation
of what's airing on April 23rd - Older and Far Away). Again, this is coming
from a reliable source and I've seen hardcopy as well.
According to the information I have, the Season Finale may not be aired
as 'Two To Go' Part One and Two. The titles I have for the May 21st airdate
are...
Episode 21: Two To Go
Episode 22: Grave

The Buffy crew was in the Stoner Park neighborhood near Santa Monica tonight,
a spot they use quite frequently since their studios are less than a mile
down the road. They were on Westgate Avenue between Missouri and La Grange,
exactly the same spot where Dawn and her friends went Halloween prankstering
in "All the Way." And in some ways, tonight's action looked
very similar - not in the prankstering, but in the fact that Dawn was
taking another walk down that very same sidewalk.
There seems to have been a late change in the Buffy crew's plans, because
my initial notification said the shoot would run from 2pm to 6am tomorrow
morning. I arrived at the park at around 3:15, figuring I'd miss the setup
work and arrive in time for a daylight shoot. Imagine my surprise when
I found nothing but an equipment truck and some lights sitting there!
Lucky for me I brought some books along, so I settled into my car and
did some reading. Finally around 6:00 wwolfe (from the C&S) showed
up, and we talked Buffy stuff until the crew finally showed up and began
to get things ready.
When the cast van arrived, out hopped Michelle Trachtenberg, Nick Brendon,
Danny Strong and Tom Lenk. By this time the entire length of the sidewalk
had been lit and was strewn with cables, while a SteadyCam operator was
standing ready.
And also a prop guy carrying two large swords.
They only did one shot while I was there, but it was a long one, and because
we were right across the street we could hear much of the dialogue. Here
it is:
Xander and Dawn are walking down the street, talking. Xander's very upset.
Dawn's trying to get him to snap out of whatever fit of temper he's in.
Behind them, Jonathan and Andrew are walking along. They two surviving
nerds are dressed all in black, as they were in Van Nuys the other night,
and they're carrying the big swords. They're not attacking. They're not
forcing Xander and Dawn along. They look like they're an escort or protection
or something. They don't say anything in the entire scene. They're just
there.
Now, here's the dialogue:
We couldn't hear the first bit, but apparently Dawn is talking about getting
help or helping someone or something. Xander launches into a rant about
what their "help" has been good for lately - "Buffy's been
shot, Tara's dead, Willow losing it..."
Then there's more we couldn't make out, and Dawn says something about
how Xander feeling sorry for himself isn't going to help anything.
Then there's still more we couldn't make out, but the dialogue that follows
makes it pretty clear that Dawn is suggesting that Spike would be helpful,
or would have been helpful if he was around. Xander's reply: "Yeah,
if he's not too busy trying to rape your sister."
Dawn stops dead. "What?" she asks.
Xander just looks at her, then turns and keeps walking.
"I don't believe you," says Dawn, hurrying to keep up.
"Is there some kind of genetic blind spot with you Summers women?"
says Xander. "The only useful thing that animal ever did was finally
leave town."
And that's where the scene ended. The cast went on break, and I called
it a night. There were other spectators there, and so if something else
dramatic is being done tonight I'll probably get word later on.
This was a scene from the season finale, by the way. There are three more
location shoots on the calendar. The season is supposed to wrap on April
9, which is next Tuesday, although they're still supposedly running late
so there's an outside chance we'll have more to see during the rest of
next week.
Reported by a "secret agent" on 4-4 02
Well, I made it down to the location shoot tonight. No Spike! :-( The
scene was with Xander and Dawn walking down the street and talking. Andrew
and Jonathan were walking behind them dressed in black from head to toe.
Andrew and Jonathan were carrying swords, but they did not have any lines.
At first, I though that Jonathan and Andrew were up to no good (like maybe
they had captured Xander and Dawn or were stalking them). But Jonathan
and Andrew didn't seem to be holding the swords threateningly. They seemed
awkward and goofy with the weapons. The more I watched, the more it seemed
like Jonathan and Andrew were tagging along with Xander and Dawn--almost
like they were on their way to a Scooby mission.
Here are
the lines I managed to hear. I've paraphrased since they seemed to rephrase
what they were saying for each take, trying out different versions of
the same line. Words in brackets are things I couldn't hear clearly.
--begin scene--
X: ...Your sister was shot. Tara got killed.
D: You're just feeling sorry for yourself because you [can't/didn't fight].
If Spike were here, he'd go back
and fight.
X: Sure, if he wasn't too busy trying to rape your sister. (Note: Some
takes had this line as, "Sure, if
he wasn't busy *raping* your sister." Important difference I think.)
DAWN STOPS SHORT.
D: What?!
X: Forget it.
D: I don't believe you! Spike would never do that!
X: Is this blind spot a genetic thing with you Summers women? The only
good thing that guy ever did was leave town. (Note: Some takes had this
line as, "The only good thing that *animal* ever did was leave town.")
--end scene--

Additional information re episode 19
1. The scene between Spike and Buffy happens in Buffy's house.
2. Buffy doesn't go to Xander; after Spike leaves, Xander comes
into the house and sees Buffy crying and with a bruise and
draws conclusions.
3. Buffy never uses the word "rape."

Spoilers: 4/2/02
In response to comments about Buffy's joking remarks about Spike in the
"April Fools Wildfeed." (Next time, I'm just going to stay quiet.)
What actually is said isn't any nicer.
Further elaboration on that since I managed to upset people by unintentionally
implying Buffy is mean to Spike...
She's not mean or nasty... she's just honest and it's not what Spike wants
to hear.
Spoilers: 4/1/02
No actual spoilers, but just clarification for any confused... The wildfeed
posted by Leoff on this day of jokes was of course a April Fools creation.
Many were in on it and many bought it. However, the summary he created
was based on actual spoilers and in the order that they actually occur.
In a broad sense, the summary created by Leoff was what actually happens
as far as the script is concerned (minus the very last scene, of course).
All my comments on my board about them were from me (despite the varying
IP addys), and for the most part, I was pretty honest in my replies. :)
Posted by AngelX on the BC&S Spoiler Board on 4-4-02
Unlike many, I *have* read the scene and I do know how severe a scene
it is. It is not going to be a pretty scene, that's a given. As a fan,
as a shipper, as an attempted rape victim, I don't like it one bit...but
I understand and accept why it exists and in whatever way it actually
occurs, I'm not going to jump to any conclusions, good or bad, until I've
seen it with my own two eyes. Whether you want to wait as well to freak
out over it, that's your decision, but until the scene airs, no more dissecting
the scene for whatever it may be. It's going to be intense and like everything
else on this show there will be people who hate it and people who love
it and people who see it as it's supposed to be seen and people who contort
it to be their worst nightmare or dream come true.
The scene as originally scripted and filmed went through extensive cuts
because the big execs who matter were seriously upset with it. We know
the scene will happen, but not exactly HOW it will happen. Until then,
everyone needs to relax and show some level of maturity and lay off the
sensitive topics until the episodes have aired.
Join me in the Crypt of Decryption:
My head is spinning!
We have
confirmation from two reliable sources of the titles of episodes 21 and
22: Two to Go and Grave. That finale title suggests something I've been
expecting of the finale since the season premiere. Buffybegan the season
emerging from the grave. Will she end the season confronted with the possibility
of returning to the grave?
We also have good news in the possible returns of Amber Benson and Anthony
Stewart Head. Unfortunately, Fraz indicates that the contract option does
not ensure the returns of both actors, but there is reason for hope.
The scene that involves Spike attempting to force himself on Buffy has
been the subject of quite a bit of controversy today. Wyvern's information
clears up some questions about how Xander finds out. However, we really
won't know how the scene will play until we see it for ourselves. AngelX's
comments demonstrate that the scene in question has undergone a lot of
revision, so it's hard to judge the ultimate impact from the script.
