Q: |
What program do you use for your
fan art? |
A: |
Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and Painter 6.0,
and thanks to all who've taken the time to send comments. Feedback
is always appreciated.
|
Q: |
How do you do the fan art images? |
A: |
That's really too complex to answer.
Suffice to say you need a good, capable graphics program and enough
of a command of it to get what you want out of it. You don't have
to mortgage your house to buy Photoshop. Paint Shop Pro (a free,
fully functional, 30 day trial of which can be had at http://www.jasc.com
) is a perfectly good program for creating fan art. It can be had
for a fraction of the cost of Photoshop and is much more user friendly
and easier to learn for the non-designer. Photoshop is overkill
for the casual user.
|
Q: |
Why can't I right click and save
the fan art images? |
A: |
My fan art is designed exclusively for
display on Angel's Acolyte. Also, because of copyright issues, I
want to be certain that display of my work is always accompanied
by the proper citations and disclaimers.
|
Q: |
Are the backgrounds
only available in 800 x 600? |
A: |
Most of the earlier images are in 800
x 600 and many of those can be sized up to 1024 x 768 without unacceptable
degradation. Resizing is the only alteration for which I
give permission. Most answers to fan art related questions will
be found in the Terms of Use.
|
Q: |
Do you take requests for new
montages/images in the galleries? |
A: |
If it's something that appeals to me.
I do those 'for fun' so the subject has to be characters/themes
that interest me. Never hurts to ask. Several of the gallery images
are the products of requests.
|
Q: |
Can I email you
my fan art for a critique and advice? |
A: |
No. I do not accept unsolicited attachments
for security reasons, nor do I have the time to offer personal advice
to everyone who has asked. Sorry, but emails containing attachments
are deleted without being opened.
|
Q: |
Can I send you my
work to display on your site? |
A: |
I only host my own work. Server space
and bandwidth are costly, I need every bit of both for my own content.
If you know some basic HTML, you can sign up for hosting with one
of the free services like "Tripod"
, "Angelfire"
or "Geocities"
and display your work that way. Another option is to sign up with
one of the web based 'photo album' type services which allow you
to simply upload the pictures, no coding necessary.

Q: |
Why doesn't the email link work? |
A: |
In order to help discourage spam 'bots
from harvesting the email addy from the site's HTML and burying
me in an avalanche of junkmail, the 'mail to' link is expressed
in the HTML using the standard numbered entities for the characters
rather than the characters themselves. This should pose no problems
for the vast majority of browsers. However, if you're using an older
browser, or for some reason your browser won't render the addy properly,
you can reach me by entering the address angels_acolyte3422@yahoo.com
directly. Remove the numbers from
the address and you have the correct addy.

If you didn't find the answer to your
question here, please email me. I do try to answer all of my email,
time permitting. I'll be adding to this FAQ as new questions come
up enough times to warrant inclusion. |
