Before reading:

This fic is based on true facts, so in the ending, there will be no B/S or B/A shipping. This fic is between season one and two of Buffy the vampire slayer, for those who don't know what has happened, Jenny and principal Snyder are still alive. The master was staked on a table and he has been buried. The anointed one is still alive and spike, Anya, Dawn etc. haven't made their entrance yet. Don't think I'm bad at making up names when you see Eddie appear, he has been named like this for a reason that will become clear later on. When a * appears, it means that someone is thinking the thing between the stars. The story starts on a Monday. Buffy the vampire slayer
Season one, episode 27

In every generation there's a chosen one, she alone can stand against the vampires, demons and the forces of darkness, she is the slayer.

Part one:

It was a beautiful Monday morning in Sunnydale, the sun shining and the sky was clear, the perfect day for… school. Xander came walking down the street when he saw Willow. "Hey Will, wait up!" he yelled. He speeded up to catch up with her. "Hi Xander" Willow greeted, together they walked on to school, there, Giles was already waiting for them. He came walking their way as soon as he saw them. "Hello Willow, Xander, have you seen Buffy?" he asked. Just then, a car stopped right in front of them "Bye mom" Buffy said as she opened the door and got out. "Hi Guys" she said "Hi" Xander and Willow simultaneously responded. "Hello Buffy" Giles said; "We need to talk". Buffy sighed annoyed; *I've got a life too, you know…* "I'll be in the library right away" "Good" Giles said, relieved, then to Xander and Willow; "I've got some research work too, maybe you two can come too?" Then he walked away, going faster when he spotted Jenny. "Hey, have you heard?" Buffy asked, the three slowly walked towards a bench in front of the school. "Heard what?" Willow wanted to know "Blink 182 is gonna perform at the bronze this week" They sat down on the bench "Hey, look, there's someone new" Willow said and pointed towards the street. There, walking swiftly towards Sunnydale high, a new guy showed up. He was quite short, but looked strong. He stood still and looked around for a sec, then he walked on. He had blond spikes and a serious, but relaxed face. He was wearing white cargo pants that were a little too long and a dark blue T-shirt that also seemed too long. When he was about twenty meters away from the bench they were sitting on, Buffy said; "Wow, that guy looks waaay too serious" When she finished speaking, he slowed down and stopped right in front of her, he turned towards her and studied her for a second before he spoke. "You have no idea of what you're talking about" He spoke in a cold, threatening voice. Buffy stood up, they were about the same size. "Well, if you knew who you were talking to, you wouldn't talk to me like that" "Shhh!!!" Willow warned. *Hmm…I sense superpowers…Slayer? Maybe demon….Nah, she's a slayer…* A strange, sick smile came over his face, almost laughing he said; "You're funny" then he walked on, being tailed by Cordelia, who just spotted him. "Wow, that's the first time I see Cordy following someone instead of being followed" Xander said, overacted surprised. "How'd that guy hear me?" Buffy asked. Just before she stood up when the bell rang, she saw him looking her way again, he smiled in the same sick way as before, then he tapped his right ear with his finger and went out of sight.

The cave was only lit by the few candles burning, a group of vampires came walking in, they immediately walked on to the back, where a boy was sitting, guarded by a large vampire and a demon. The boy was playing with a little rat. One of the two guards came towards him and told him about the visitors. "Let them come forth" the boy said, and to the leader of the group; "If you bring bad news, I will personally see to it that you will all be decapitated". The leader stepped forward and kneeled before the kid, the rest stayed in the back, but kneeled also. "We just received a message, the package has arrived" The boy looked up in deep thoughts, he let the rat he was playing with escape, the creature ran into the nearest hole it could find. He thought a few minutes before responding; "Finally, it's here, that annoying girl won't be of much trouble anymore now, thank you…my friend". Right then, a woman came rushing into the cave, she got held back by the vampire guard "The anointed one does not wish to be disturbed" the vampire growled, he sniffed a second "Especially not by humans" "I've come with a warning" the woman begged, but the vampire was already feeding. "Wait, you fool! Who knows what news she brings!" The boy yelled, but the lifeless body fell on the floor, being drained for more blood than it could miss. The boy said something to his second guard, who immediately walked to the vampire and pulled his heart out. The rest of the vampire fell into dust. The boy turned towards the rest of the vampires and said; "Any one of you who dares killing a messenger, demon or human, dies, understood?….Good, now bring me the package, and do not return empty-handed". As he returned to his seat, the vampires left the cave through the sewers, knowing it was still day, leaving the boy behind with the guard that was left. "Soon…..yes…..very soon" The boy said.

Part two:

"You want me to look up a demon that can stand sunlight, has a human form or can take a human form and has hearing far better than normal humans?" Giles repeated, being surprised that Buffy actually asked him to help her with something else then getting permission for a party. They were sitting in the library "Exactly" Buffy said "And make it quick, I wanna slay this demon right away and go see Blink at the bronze Wednesday". *what's a Blink?* Giles wondered, he was already looking up some demons in his books when the new guy came walking in. *He can't be here, quick, hide the books…COME ON GILES!!! HIDE THE BOOKS!!!* "What are you doing here?" Buffy quickly asked. He seemed quite amused by that; "You know, this is a library, it's a public place, I'm allowed to come here" he said *Man, these people are stupid… And since when does the slayer have friends?*. "But you interrupted the meeting of our secret…..eh….." *Think Buffy…think…AA club…no…think faster!!!* "…History club!" Willow filled in "Yeah, history club!" Buffy continued *Good one Will*. But he wasn't listening anymore, he walked towards Giles and asked him; "Are you the librarian?" Xander laughed; "No, he's our gym teacher" "Yes…I am" Giles answered, ignoring Xander; "My name is Giles" "I'm Eddie, Eddie Brock, I'm looking for some books about Kashra demons, do you have any?" Giles was completely surprised by this, going up in his own thoughts, he forgot there were other people in the library * Of course…..superior…..hearing…..human…..form….. immune…..to…..sunlight…..it all fits together…* He thought. Then he noticed that everyone was staring at him, except Eddie, who wasn't waiting for Giles and was already reading one of the books about demons that Giles had been reading before. When Giles saw this, he quickly walked over to Eddie and grabbed the book from his hands.*He can't read these, I've got to hide them!!!* *You should've hidden the books…* "You're not allowed to use these books, they are my private collection, it's a hobby" "Damn!" Eddie said, "You're such a bunch of losers, anyone can see that you're the Slayer…" He pointed at Buffy "…And you're the Watcher, and all excuses you can make up are We have a history club and It's my hobby, just gimme those damned books!" Eddie pulled the books out of Giles' hands and searched through them, he took two of them and left the library. "Make sure you return them tomorrow" Principal Snyder said as he came walking in the library "And you…" He spoke to Giles "Leave the new kid alone, he's had a terrible youth and may be a little different, no reason to keep books from him, and you three…" He continued to Buffy, Willow and Xander "Don't you have class?" "Oh, forgot!" Xander said, and dragged Buffy with him, Willow following, Buffy, who hadn't even noticed Snyder, only mumbled something like; "Whadihesaiwas?"

It was already evening by the time Eddie decided to go home. He had been hanging around in the park the whole afternoon, slowly he walked home. While walking he talked to himself, completely gone up in his thoughts "Will this slayer be next, or will she be saved in time…..Am I up to the challenge…..or…..will I be too weak and will she escape this time? I need to be careful this time…..no mistakes…..she'll die this time…..there will be no escape…..not this time." He stopped at a graveyard and sat down on the sidewalk "…Not this time…"

At the same time, Buffy was on her way to the graveyard, Giles told her there'd be a new vampire to slay. As she walked, she was thinking; *Who is this Eddie? Nothing seems to bother him…and he knows I'm the slayer…I'd like to ask him about it right now…it gets me frustrated that everyone always knows more than I do* As she walked through the park, she heard a snap, a vampire attacked her, either stupid or thinking it was strong enough to beat the slayer. "Ah…" She said while tackling the vampire "Just what I needed…..a punching bag!". She threw her stakes on the ground and kicked the hell out of the vampire, who already lost hope on a nice snack. The demon tried to run, but Buffy tackled him and broke one of its legs. The disgusting crack made her come to herself and she grabbed the vampire's last gift from the floor…a stake. "Nighty night!" She said, while the vampire turned to dust. "Damn it!" She said to herself "It'll take hours to wash all this dust out of my clothes, shitty vampires, cant you just dissolve?" She heard footsteps behind her, she quickly turned around and grabbed another stake from the ground when; "Xander, what the heck are you doing here?" "Well…" Xander started while Buffy put her stakes away "…I was on my way home from Willow's place when I saw you going into the park, and next, I saw this Eddie guy walking out, so, I kinda thought he attacked you and you needed some help" Buffy couldn't laugh; "Why the hell is everybody so damn negative about the new guy, okay…so he's a little weird and he knows I'm the slayer but, so what? You found that out too, I didn't immediately think you were some kind of monster…as soon as you guys see someone weird, you're screaming demon!…Vampire! If you don't like him just leave him, ratman already said he had a terrible youth, now you're gonna spoil the rest of his life too?" *What am I saying…I hate the guy too…* "But…" Xander started, but he quickly stopped when he saw the look on her face. "I've heard that name somewhere before …" He still tried "Xander!" *Eddie Brock, Eddie Brock, he's right, it does sound familiar…* They walked on together. They were almost at the graveyard when they saw someone sitting on the sidewalk, it looked like Eddie. A vampire jumped over the wall and attacked Eddie, Buffy wanted to go and help him, but then she saw something that convinced her of Xander's demon theory too. Eddie stood up and his hand transformed into a long, sharp blade that chopped the vampire to dust in one hit. "Sayonara…" Eddie mumbled as he slowly walked away.

Later that night… Giles was working late in the library when a shadow jumped in through the window, Giles immediately grabbed a cross and a stake from his desk. "Chill, it's me" *Man, that guy's got some bad reflexes…* Angel came walking from the window. "I've come to warn you" He said "I know… a Kashra demon has arrived in Sunnydale, but the strange thing is…he told us that himself…" Giles said. "Who told you?" Angel asked "…The new boy…Eddie Brock…He seems to be 'different'" Hearing Eddie's name seemed to hit something inside Angel "So…he's still around doing his duty" he said to himself. "Doing what?" Giles wanted to know "Nothing…trust Eddie" Angel answered "Oh, don't tell Buffy I was here" He said, then he left Giles alone again, thinking; *What's he still doing?*

Angel walked home in a swift, steady pace, he was walking past the graveyard when a huge demon attacked him, the demon was made of some sort of liquid metal and where it should've had hands, it had long blades that seemed sharp enough to slash his head off in a single hit. "Kashra" Angel said, the demon just roared and attacked, Angel dodged the blade and vamped out "You won't get her!" he said "This one's different, She's got friends and many strong people protecting her!… you'll be stopped again… just like last time!". The demon held its attack and roared; "I WAS CARELESS THEN…..THIS TIME…..NO MISTAKES…..NOT THIS TIME!!!" Angel saw the demon was hesitating to attack him "You don't stand a chance against the slayer…I could’ve killed you by now, you're weak" Angel bluffed. "WHAT?…..WEAK?…I'LL SHOW YOU WEAK!!!" The demon closed its eyes, gathering strength. Suddenly, Angel got a strange pain through his body, the demon inside him was coming up again, but not to fight, the demon inside made Angel run "NOW…FEEL MY WRATH!!!" The demon opened its eyes and Angel was gone, he fled, being forced by his demon, that seemed to be afraid…and Angel knew…it was…he already lost to the demon once… when he was still known as Angelus…

Part three:

The next day it was raining, it was the first time it rained that year, so nobody expected it and everybody was soaked. In the library, it was even worse, first, there was Willow, who had to kill a frog during Bio and she kept complaining about something like torture and slavery. Then, there was Xander, who had to do some chores for Snyder for the classes he missed because their 'bat thing' and couldn't stop thinking of ways to kill Snyder. And, there was Buffy, who was pissed off because she just started to trust Eddie, who turned out to be a demon, and she was trying to get to Giles' weapons to find something that would kill him slowly and painful. Xander took a stake from Giles' desk and was about to go and kill Snyder when Giles had enough of it; "SHUT UP!! GET TO YOURSELVES AND QUIT ACTING LIKE A BUNCH OF BLOODY IDIOTS!!" Giles' outburst was enough to get Xander back to normal, but the others kept complaining. As if he were attracted by Giles' voice, Eddie came walking in, serious as ever. "Wow…what's going on in here?" *Did Kashra kill anybody?* he asked and gave Giles his demon books back. "I guess it's hellmouth…" Giles said, storing the books back in the cage. what happened then, made Willow forget her sorrow too, Buffy finally saw a chance of getting to Giles' weapons and grabbed a sword. She slowly walked towards Eddie and spoke in a low voice; "Demon, or whatever you are, you've got three options right now…one, you tell me who you are, what you are and why you're here…two, I beat you up and you tell me…three, I kill you" *…Bastard…* Eddie smiled; "I expected this, and you're forgetting option number four; we fight, I win, you trust me and leave me alone" "Fine…if you want a fight, you'll get one…" Buffy replied "…But let's go to the gym… we'll have more space" "Good…" Eddie said "…I haven't fought a slayer in a while". "Thank god…" Giles said, relieved that his books would stay untouched. Leaving the sword in the cage, the group went to the gym, Eddie at the front, and Giles last to close the library.
