"Mom?" Buffy pushed through the crowded bar and almost ran into Brooke.
"Hey Buffy. She's over in the corner," Brooke kissed Buffy's cheek before running behind the bar to fix drinks.
"Mom, go wait outside. I need to talk to Brooke," Buffy leaned down and looked into her mother's eyes.
"No! I won't have you telling me what to do!" Buffy's mother, Joyce, shrieked. She shoved Buffy backwards.
"Mom, if you don't go I'll have Spike make you go," Buffy spat. Spike wasthe bar's bouncer and a good friend of Buffy's. He was tall and built with High cheekbones, platinum blond hair and icy blue eyes.
"I'm not going," Joyce slurred, reaching for another vodka tonic and missing.
"Spike!"Buffy screamed over her shoulder. Spike looked up from the two minors he had been dragging by the collar.
"What?" He called, his voice laced with a thick British accent.
"I need your help!" Buffy shouted back, glaring at her mother. Spike threw the kids outside and quickly made his way over to Buffy.
"What is it, luv?" Spike huffed, crossing his arms.
"Take my mom outside? I need to talk to Brooke." Buffy turned on her heel and ducked behind the bar.
"What's up sweetie?" Brooke asked, busily handing out drafts.
"How much do I owe you?" Buffy asked, pulling her wad of tip money from her pocket.
"Nothin'. Don't worry about it."
"No, Brooke...," Buffy groaned.
"Buffy, you know Faith would kill me if I took money from you. You're family." Brooke's little sister, Faith, was Buffy's best friend. They had grown up together in neighboring trailers and spent every free moment together.
"Fine. Thanks," Buffy turned and ran out the door.

"Mornign Sunshine!" Faith called as she bounced into school the next morning. Her thick brown hair flowed to her shoulders and her heavy makeup made her round eyes even larger.
"Mornin'. How was the party?" buffy asked, pulling her golden lockes into a high ponytail.
"It kicked ASS! Ugh, you should've been there B!" faith jumped up and down.
"I have to work again tonight, but Friday is free for partying," Buffy grinned.
"Great! There's a college party we can go to, and plenty of hot college guys to hook up with," Faith said, batting her eyelashes.
"Faith! Stop it. You know I don't go for that kind of thing." Buffy swatted Faith on the arm.
"I know, I know. You want a long meaningful relationship that ends in marriage and babies," Faith mocked.
"No, I just don't wnat to end up like my parents," Buffy muttered, grabbing her books.
"Hey B? I was just playin'," Faith apologized.
"I know. Come on, I've got a 4.0 to maintain," Buffy said as she grabbed Faith's wrist.
"And I've got a rep to maitnain. It just wouldn't be history without my snoring." THe two best friends wlked down the hall arm in arm.
