Hate or love?: Closer

by spuffygurl11

Disclaimer: Alas I don’t own Buffy, because if I did I would be the star with Spike as my love interest! [Hey I can dream can’t I?]

Note: I know I have Riley bashing in this chapter sorry but it’s just so easy to bash Riley! If you want me to write more review! I’m not physic you know!

Buffy was very mystified by everything, Anya was not usually someone to take seriously, she said anything and everything that crossed her mind, but Willow was never usually one you would call ‘blunt.’ Willow wore fuzzy sweaters with smiley faces on them and had a compulsive love for school; Willow didn’t usually yell or scold without some kind words to make it better.

So she did the mature thing and avoided Spike, a lot; she wouldn’t even fight with him, which surprised all her friends, except Anya who was surprised by everything and nothing.

All of her friends agreed they should do something fun to help her forget about Spike (even though half the group was secretly rooting for him) so they took her to a party.

Parker Adam's always had the best parties, mostly because his brother was in college and would supply him with tons of foamy illegal beverages, so most people were so drunk they didn’t remember dancing on the table or high five him the next day as a thank you for getting that totally hot chick passed out for me kinda thing.

Usually Buffy wouldn’t go to parties like Parker’s but her Mom was in L.A doing work for the Gallery so she’d never know.

Walking into Parker’s house with Willow and Tara [Willow’s girlfriend] Buffy’s face fall when she saw Spike across the room playing pool with Neanderthal football player Riley Finn who was losing badly.

Immediately Buffy turned around and walked straight to the keg, “This is going to be a long night,” she thought as she gulped down some beer.

It only took one glass to make Buffy drunk maybe because of the lovely drugs Parker had slipped into it she was to woozy to care; she stumbled through the party giggling and gripping the wall to remain standing. Everything was spinning more and more as she hit the ground unconscious.

Willow rushed over as soon as she saw, and was followed by Spike.

“Buffy wake up!” Willow frantically tried to revive her friend, now thinking taking Buffy to a party wasn’t the best idea.

“I’ll take her home,” Spike offered concern crossing his usually relaxed face.

“If she finds out you took her home she’ll kill you!” Willow exclaimed concern now marring her face.

“I know Red, I know,” Spike replied in a way Willow knew he thought it was worth it.

Spike scooped Buffy off the floor and carried her to the car, enjoying being able to hold her, if only for a little while.

Trying to get in the car Spike found she wouldn’t let go of him. He tried to push her off but she would just re-lock her arms around him.

After failing once to separate them Spike happily gave up, it was nice to know she wanted him, even in an unconscious state.

“Spike,” Buffy murmured in her sleep making Spike grin from happiness.

He opened the door to Buffy’s house still carrying her knowing her Mom was out and would never know her daughter had gotten drunk. He had hot chocolate with Mrs. Summers occasionally when Buffy wasn’t home.

About to climb the stairs to Buffy’s room Spike thought a minute, “She’ll be mad enough I took her home, if I go into her room she might commit that gruesome murder on me she’s always threatening,” so he laid her on the sofa.

Again he tried to loosen her grip on his neck but she wouldn’t. If he woke her she would be mad and drunk, if he didn’t wake her and slept on the sofa with her she’d be mad and sober.

“Drunk Buffy, or sober Buffy,” Spike thought. He hadn’t met drunk Buffy so he’d take sober Buffy.

Laying down on the couch Spike placed Buffy so she was next to him, not on him she was going to be mad enough was Spike’s thought.

All thoughts in his head were replaced with Buffy. The smell of her hair, the way her eyelashes curled, and the way he felt holding her, him!

Sleep was impossible, how could he sleep with the girl of his dreams being the girl of his reality. When pure exhaustion finally made Spike sleep he smiled knowing his dreams would be about the girl in his arms.

Buffy opened her eyes wishing she hadn’t, her head felt like it was going to split if she moved. Her memories of the previous night were blurred together, but she definitely didn’t remember leaving the party.

It was then she realized someone was next to her, it was dark so she couldn’t see who it was, but she knew it was a guy.

“Oh my god, oh my god! Was I so drunk I slept with some random guy? People will think I’m some easy tramp! Oh god no!”

Buffy thought panic running through her body, until she looked around and saw she was in her house.

Confusion now replaced the panic as she shook the guy next to her to find some answers, “Hey wake up!”

The guy ran his hand through his bleached blonde hair, yawned showing chiseled features, and, no, piercing blue eyes!

“Spike!” Buffy exclaimed looking disgusted and incredulous at the same time.

“Sober Buffy is up I guess,” Spike mumbled to tired to take the time to think it.

“What happened last night? Tell me I didn’t sleep with you,” Buffy asked fear clouding her usually confident green eyes.

“If you did you’d remember pet,” Spike answered managing to smirk even though he was half asleep.

Glaring reproachfully at him Buffy started her usual insult party with Spike, proving even with a hangover she could hate him.

“You know not every living female wants you, in fact there is about zero unless you count the lunatics I don’t.”

“What’s your bloody problem? I take you home because you were bloody knackered and drunk! If I’d left you there Parker or one of his ponce friends would’ve had their bloody way with you!”

Usually he would join in the banter but he was tired of this, he helps her, she hates him, it just wasn’t bloody fair!

Prepared for Buffy to yell at him and say he should’ve left her at the party he was the least to say shocked at what she did say.

“I’m sorry, you’re right you couldn’t just leave me, and I’m glad you didn’t, so thank you. Now I have to get ready for school, so if you could just leave.”

Stunned that Buffy actually apologized to him while seeming sincere trumpets were playing in his head and he wanted to jump up and down with happiness.

Spike staggered out of the Summer’s house as if he was walking through water, he smiled as he thought,” I’m getting closer.”
