Eternity: Puppy Love

*5-year old Buffy Summers sat on one of the swings in the sun-filled and beautiful Sunnydale Park, playing with her friends Hallie and Katie as they were playing a game of hide and go seek, the three little girls looking so cute and adorable people couldn’t help but smile at their angelic features as they passed them by.

Sunshine glowed through Buffy’s curled blond hair as she smiled sweetly at her friends, her friends running to hide behind the bushes. Buffy counted to herself softly, counting up to twenty and then started running , trying to find her friends who were hiding somewhere behind the bushes.

She stopped suddenly and turn to look at her mom Joyce, who was smiling at her and talking with her friends’ moms at the same time. Buffy smiled back at her as she continued to look for her little friends. Her small body pressed against the tall bushes as she kept on looking, not seeing them there behind the tall bushes.

“Come out come out wherever you are,” Buffy said sweetly, giggling to herself as she saw a pink shoe sticking out from a nearby branch. It had to be Hallie’s foot. Buffy smiled to herself as she quickly grabbed her foot. “I gotcha!” Buffy yelled excitedly. “You got me again Buffy. That’s not fair!” Hallie smiled and laughed at the same time, twirling her brown hair.


“Everything is fair to me,” Buffy replied, giggling.
“Next time it be our turn to get you,” Hallie replied as she lightly pulled Buffy’s hair. Buffy just smiled at her, pulling her hair also. “We should go find Katie then,” she said as the two girls went to look for her. Hallie walked pass Buffy while she stayed behind her when she saw something over past the swings.

Buffy stopped walking altogether and saw that a boy with brown spiky hair was being picked on by two bigger kids, both of them looking really mean and big. One of the big boys kicked the small brown haired boy in the knee, the boy screaming out in pain and eventually started crying as he tried to move away from the big boys.

Buffy was angry by the site of this and ran to help the small boy. “Hey! Get away from him. Or I’ll hurt you!” The two big boys looked at her, then laughed. “Or what small fry? You can’t hurt us. You’re too small,” the big boy with blond hair replied, attempting to kick the brown haired boy again, but Buffy stopped him. Using her small leg, she managed to kick both of the boys in the groin so hard, the boys’ faces turned red right away.

“Let’s get out of here. That girl’s crazy,” with that the two big boys ran away, holding on to their legs as they looked back to look at the crazy girl name Buffy. “Are you okay?” Buffy asked softly, holding on to the small boy’s hand as she pulled him up. “Yeah…Yeah…I’m okay,” he replied shyly, still crying. Somehow, it hurt Buffy to see this cutie cry.

She tried to comfort him. “Don’t cry. They’re gone now. You’re okay now.” He has pretty brown eyes, Buffy thought in surprise. She hated all little boys and thought they were stupid and mean. But somehow, she didn’t think this boy was any of those things. He looked pretty cute. Almost like an angel. “Th…Thank you,” he replied again shyly, not looking at her directly. He looks so cute when he’s shy. I’m gonna make him my friend.

Buffy actually hugged him, pleading him to stop crying. The big boys were gone already. “My name is Buffy. What’s yours?” This time the angelic looking boy looked straight at her. He is cute. I like his eyes, Buffy smiled, a little shy. “It’s Angel.” “Nice name. You want to be my friend? I promise I won’t let any big boys pick on you again,” Buffy shuffled her feet, feeling more shy even though she was only 5.

So was Angel. She was conning him to be her friend, but she didn’t care. She liked him already. “..Yeah. I guess so. Thanks for helping me,” Angel replied with a sweet smile. It melted Buffy’s heart in an instant. “Where’s your mom at?” she asked, actually grabbing hold of Angel’s slim hand. Angel barely even noticed. He was still being cute and shy but Buffy liked it. Buffy’s mind suddenly went crazy as a vision of both her and Angel appeared in her head, but this time they looked grown up and taller. She heard a voice flying across her mind.

“People don’t just wake up and stop loving each other. Love is Forever. I love you. I try not to….But I can’t stop. Me too,” was the words little Buffy heard herself and Angel say in the future. She didn’t understand what it meant. She was too little to even comprehend it. “Are you okay?” Angel asked, looking more adorable than ever with his spiky brown hair. Buffy reassured him with a smile, then played with his hair, his hair feeling soft between her small fingers.

“Your hair smells really good. Is that your Mom right there?” she asked as they both stopped walking. “Yeah that’s my Mom. Thanks for helping me,” was all little Angel said before he planted a kiss on little Buffy’s cheek. Buffy smiled, her face turning hot red from the kiss. It was a nice kiss. “Bye,” Angel said, letting go of her hand. “Bye Angel,” Buffy said, still feeling her cheek where Angel had kissed her.
This was the beginning of a lasting new thing coming into Buffy’s childhood.

It was called Puppy love. She felt it coming. Even if she couldn’t understand it yet. She ran towards her mommy, forgot about her friends, as she wanted nothing more than to go home and think about the angelic looking boy she just met name Angel. The one who gave her a kiss for saving him from the big boys. The one with the angelic face.

The next morning….

Buffy held her mom’s hands as she jumped and skipped towards her kindergarten class, excited to see her friends again but couldn’t stop thinking about the cute boy she met. Angel. She liked him because he was the only boy nice to her. Other boys were gross and mean and very smelly. Ewwww. Buffy thought as she shook her head, then stopped. She turned and saw three big boys picking on a boy with spiky brown hair and brown eyes. Angel...
