Just a Normal Time In Sunnydale.....: Chapter Sixteen

Buffy walked around in the park. This was the same area that the vampire with claws had gone through last year--the same area where he'd gotten majorly freaked out by "Miss Well-proportioned", as she'd referred to her, mocking Giles.

Natalie French, fake substitute teacher--real, live praying mantis-lady. Who mated with virgins. And bit off their heads in the process.

They were both gone, now, though. Xander'd hacked up Miss "Well-Proportioned", and vamp-with-fork-hand was staked. There were noises, though, nearby.

She frowned, walking faster. She turned the corner to see a huge vamp fighting with someone. "You cannot stop me. You cannot stop us!" yelled the vamp. It sounded like Luke.... One of the first vampires she'd had to kill in Sunnydale, stopping the Harvest--stopping the Master.

"Where is the Master?"

"He is dead." Buffy recognized the voice, slightly accented. "And you can join him." Luke exploded, again, into lots of little psycho-vamp dust. Buffy stepped forward to where he had been. She and Kendra stared at each other.

"I was going to come and find you," said the other Slayer, finally. "But he attacked me before I could."

"He was one of the baddest," Buffy said. "Before I killed him."

Kendra frowned. "I killed him," she argued.

"No. First I killed him. Then he came back. There's this whole prophecy thing, where--never mind." She stopped trying to explain. "And, not that I'm not glad to see you, but why are you here? Wait, let me guess," she interrupted as Kendra opened her mouth.

"Your Watcher informed you that a very dark power is about to rise here in Sunnydale," she finished, taking on Kendra's accent half-mockingly.

Kendra nodded. "That's about it."

"Well, that's just great." Buffy turned around, and they started walking back to the high school library. "Does he have any idea what this dark power is?" Kendra shook her head in response. They made it back to the high school library without any more attacks.

But the dark power, on the edge of town, was rising as they spoke.
