You're the Murder in My World: Part Two

by KatieV

Abandoned church-1 a.m. The church had once been quite ornate, but years of desertion had ruined it. It was roofless, but the balcony and the main floor still stood. Candles flickered on the main floor, but failed to extend their light sufficiently to the balcony, where the Slayerettes were lying on their stomachs.

Willow was speaking hurriedly into a mobile phone."All right, Angel, good work." She hung up and turned to Buffy."Angel says that Spike is on his way here. How's the other one?"

Buffy rose up on her elbows and peeked over the railing of the balcony."She's still just standing around."

"Good." Willow turned to her other side and spoke in a low tone."Cordelia, Xander, Oz, you doing good over there?" They all nodded.

Willow's phone vibrated and she quickly answered it."What? Ok. Angel says we should be able to see him now. Hand me the night vision goggles." She took the heavy goggles from Xander and snapped them into place. She peered out into the night on the other side of them. "There he is. Oh my god." She thrust the goggles at Buffy.

"What, Will?" The Slayer also looked through the goggles and suddenly giggled. I can't believe it! He let his hair grow out!"

"Angel, why didn't you tell us about that?"

On the other end of the phone, Angel laughed,"I thought I'd let it be a surprise." He sobered."All fun aside, Spike's about to enter the church."

"We see him. Hurry over here."She flipped the phone closed."Showtime."

Outside the door, Spike lightly tossed the two-by-four from hand to hand. He considered for a moment. He silently opened the door and snuck in. Seirene was kneeling in front of the altar. The crucifix had been cast aside for what Spike recognized as a large portrait of Marius.

"Oh, Marius, I miss you so much. Your death will not go unavenged. I will find and kill Spike." Thunk. The two-by-four connected soundly with the back of her head and she was out cold.

"Huh...they don't make avenging vampire mates like they used to. If that'd been Dru, she would've clobbered me by now." Shaking his head, he reached for the stake in his back pocket.

Above in the in the choir loft, Willow gave the signal. Buffy jumped up from her hiding place and flipped down, hitting the floor hard. She staggered, then righted herself.

"Hey, Spike, remember me?"

Spike growled, rolled his eyes , and slipped his game face on."How could I ever forget?"

She indicated the two-by-four."Do we really need weapons?"

"Seems we've played that conversation before, Slayer. I'm not the least bit opposed to fighting an unfair fight. As long as it's tilted towards my side."He brought his arm up and took a swing, going low for her legs. Buffy jumped over the pass, and pivoted. She threw a quick right punch at him, and he blocked it, gabbing her hand and spinning her into the nearest wall. She rebounded and countered with a kick to the back that sent him to the floor and the board spinning out of reach.

He scrambled after it and she followed. He grabbed the end of it and turned over, bringing it around directly into her face."You should really work on your defense."

"Thanks for the concern, Spike."She wiped the blood off her lip and went back into a fighting stance. Suddenly, a shriek came from the choir loft. Distracted, Buffy turned her eyes up and Spike moved in for the kill. He hit her in the head three times and she dropped at his feet.

Above them, Cordelia protested, "There was a bug! On me! A bug."

Willow huffed."Great." She quickly dialed and spoke into the phone."Angel, get in here. Buffy needs your help."

The doors flew open as Angel came in, his game face on. Unfortunately, one of the doors hit a large statue and sent it crashing down on top of him.

"Well, isn't that ironic. And here I thought this would be a bad day."

"It is a bad day, Spike. Starting now." In all the confusion. Seirene had come to. Brandishing a large metal candle holder, she clobbered Spike. She had the element of surprise in her favor and she took advantage of it, scoring hit after hit with no rebuttal. After a particularly bruising series of hits, she had Spike slumped in a corner, panting and bleeding sluggishly. Stooping, she picked up the stake he had dropped."This is for Marius." She screeched and brought the stake down.

Suddenly, her face twisted and she faltered."What…" she started, but then she violently combusted, spraying a fine mist of ash over the church floor.

"Mine," Drusilla stated firmly, holding the end of a picket in her hand.

"Dru?" Spike peered through blurry eyes. A look of uncertainty crossed her face and she ran."Dru! Dammit, not again." He shook his head to clear it and took off after her.

Willow and the rest of the gang hurried down from the balcony. Xander and Oz labored to lift the statue of Angel, while Willow and Cordelia rushed to Buffy's side. She was just coming to.

"Hey, guys. Getting hit in the face isn't as much fun as it used to be. Where's Spike?"

"He rushed off after Drusilla. I'm sorry I screamed, Buffy," Cordelia said sheepishly.

"That's ok. What about Seirene?"

"Uh, actually, Drusilla dusted her."

"Talk about unlikely allies. Help me up, will you?" Cordelia and Willow pulled her to her feet. She dusted off her slacks, but stopped as she saw Xander and Oz struggling with the statue."Oh my god, Angel!" Buffy rushed over and easily threw the statue off the pinned vampire."Angel, honey, are you okay?"

"Ok might be overdoing it, but I'm not dust."

"Can you walk?"

Angel tried for a moment, then gave up."No, apparently not."

"Wow. Spike was right. This really is ironic." Buffy shot a glare at the Watcher."Umm, I meant, we'd better get Xander to go steal a wheelchair from the hospital."

"Why do I get stuck with all the crap jobs? Ow!" He rubbed his arm where Cordelia had smacked him.

"The more things change… Don't worry, Angel, this won't be forever." Willow smiled encouragingly at him.

"I know. I've had experience with this before."

Mansion-June 9th,2023-2:30 a.m.

She was sitting in the gardens when he found her, rubbing the petals of the night blooming jasmine between her fingertips. She heard him and stilled, her shoulders tensing.

He walked just inside the doorway and stopped."Pet?" He said uncertainly."I, uh, thanks for the help back there." He paused and glanced off to the left. "I was just wondering if you were, you know, just passing through or you were here for a reason." He shifted his feet."And if you were just passing through, if you'd be terribly opposed to my tagging along." He cleared his throat and tried to think way back, to the time when he'd sweet talked her out of her misery over Angel and Darla's renewed relationship and into his clutches.

Spike was just about to leave when the woman on the bench turned. "I'm a princess."

"That's what you are." He closed the distance between them and swept her into his arms. He held her close and then pulled slightly away."And this whole 'my Angel' thing?"

"'E's not mine," she said sadly."'E hasn't been for a long time. And I 'ave you…my sweet li'l Spike." She pulled him down for a sweet kiss, tracing his face with her fingertips. "Did you miss me, Spike?"

"Miss you, ducks? I can't tell you how many random people I killed just because I missed you." He kissed her hard, threading his hand into her hair and coaxing her lips apart.

"Violence," she breathed against his mouth."'ow romantic."
