Since you’ve been gone

Disclaimer: I own nothing in the buffyverse or Kelly Clarkson’s “Since you’ve been gone”.
Buffy walked onto the stage at the Bronze nervousness brewing in her churning stomach but her anger fueled her confidence, she took a deep breath and began to sing, “Here’s the thing we started out friends,” flashes of Riley being bitten by some random vamp-whore played through her mind.
“It was cool but it was all pretend, yeah, yeah, since you’ve been gone,” all the pain she’d felt when Riley went on that helicopter poured out through the club.
“You dedicated you took the time, it wasn’t long until I called you mine, yeah yeah, since you’ve been gone,” so engrossed in her long due venting Buffy didn’t notice Spike’s clear blue eyes studying her intently.
“And all you ever hear me say, is how I pictured me with you, that’s all you’d ever hear me say,”
“Bloody idiot!” Spike breathed passionately.
“If I had Buffy I’d never leave her, if Captain Cardboard comes back I’ll punch his ponce face in,” Spike thought angrily he’d set off the chip 1,000 times if it made Buffy normal with him, bitchy and wonderful.
“But since you’ve been gone, I can breathe for the first time ,I’m so moving on, yeah, thanks to you, now I get, what I want, since you’ve been gone,” Spike saw a mixture of pain, anger, and tears in Buffy’s green eyes.
“How can I put it? You put me on; I even thought you loved me that long, yeah. Since you’ve been gone, how come I never hear you say, I just wanna be with you, I guess you never felt that way,” all he wanted to do was hold her in his arms and tell her everything was going to be okay.
“But since you’ve been gone, I can breathe for the first time, I’m so moving on, yeah yeah, thanks to you, now I get, what I want, since you’ve been gone, you had your chance you blew it, out of sight, out of mind, shut your mouth I just can’t take it, again and again and again and again,” Spike was enchanted, he hung on every word that came out of her beautiful mouth.
“Since you’ve been gone, I can breathe for the first time, I’m so moving on, yeah yeah, thanks to you, now I get, I get what I want, I can breathe for the first time, I’m so moving on, yeah yeah, thanks to you, now I get, you should know, that I get, I get what I want, since you’ve been gone, since you’ve been gone, since you’ve been gone.” The crowd erupted in applause and cheers, but no one more than Spike.
“Thank you,” Buffy replied, embarrassed at all the attention.
Buffy walked down the stage and began to leave, when an all too familiar voice rang out, “Good show love”.
“What are you doing here,” Buffy said harshly, turning around to face the vampire.
“Can’t an old friend come and watch you sing?”
“You can’t 1.your a soulless vamp 2.you claim you love me 3.I don’t want to see you again and 4.were so not friends.
“Say what ever you want but I do love you, I don’t want to but I do,” Spike replied tiredly if he could stop loving her he would, except he was to in blood love with her to even consider it.
“Hello didn’t you hear number 1. You have no soul, so therefore you can’t love,” Buffy snapped as she went outside.
“Now you wait right there, I can love just as well as you can!”
“Oh really, I think its more obsession! Why else would you follow me around getting your stalker on?”
“Because I bloody love you! I can’t get you out of my head, and it’s killing me that that stupid idiot who hurt you.”
“You only care because you hated that Riley used to be in the initiative!”
“Well I had a bloody good reason to!”
“And what’s that?”
“He wasn’t bloody good enough for you! No one is or will ever be good enough for you.” Spike answered quietly.
Through there heated argument they found they had walked into one of Sunnydale’s many graveyards.
“Great, that’s all I need more demons!” Buffy groaned as she staked a group of fledglings.
“A little help here?” Buffy cried tossing Spike a stake.
In record time Spike and Buffy dusted all the vamps.
Buffy started to walk home but Spike stopped her, “Spike can I please just go home?”
“First I have to say something,” he said holding her arms.
“Well 1.you were bloody brilliant at the Bronze 2.I love you and 3.How can I prove I love you?”
Buffy didn’t know what to say that wouldn’t hurt him, “wait why do I care about not hurting Spike? I mean he’s Spike,” Buffy thought.
“Let me go Spike,” Buffy said quietly, his hands released her arms. And with that Buffy walked home, knowing quite well Spike was watching her through her bedroom window.
Note: Goes from after “Crush” to “Intervention”
Spike did as she wished and left her alone, for weeks even though it killed him that Angel consoled Buffy after Joyce’s death he could sense the great poofs’ appearance before he smelled it on Buffy.
Spike had been tortured by Glory, who thought he was the key because of the BufyBot. He was in his crypt when the BuffyBot walked in.
“Hi Spike! Oh no you’re hurt! What happened?”
“Glory wanted to know who the key is.”
“Well then I’ll tell her,” said the bot turning around.
“No! You can’t do that.”
“Why?”
“Because the other Buffy, it would kill her,” Spike replied softly.
“Oh it’s okay,” the bot comforted.
Leaning down she kissed him softly, but Spike couldn’t understand, this wasn’t the bot!
“Buffy?” Spike asked bewildered.
“What you did for Dawn, I won’t forget anytime soon,” Buffy answered coolly and warmly at the same time.
Leaving a shocked Spike, Buffy walked out of his crypt.
“Did that just happened happen?” Spike wondered aloud.
“Do I have a chance with Buffy?”
