Therapeutic: Part Two
by KatieV
Spike's car screeched into the parking spot, knocking over a sign reading "Reserved for Employee of the Month".
"You know, the handicapped spots are much closer, and since we can use them now…"
Spike glared at him. " Look, not only are those jokes irritating, they're starting to become unoriginal."
"Unoriginal? Now, that hurt. "
"You hurt? You just dinged up my bloody car. I'm the only one who gets to do that. "
Dru whimpered. She had buried her head in Spike's side during the car ride. She hated cars; they were big and made scary noises. " I want to get out. I 'ate it 'ere." Spike stroked her hair soothingly. If nothing else, she still looked to him as a source of affection and protection. And to his knowledge, she hadn't slept with the bloke. Well, not in this century at least. Yeah, they could work this out. They'd ditch Angelus and go back to England. Prague, maybe. They could hunt down the descendants of the mob that had weakened her. He smiled just at the thought of it.
" Sure, luv, we'll just get out of here now." He opened the door for her and she scrambled out, then took his chair out of the trunk for him, rolling it to his door. He swung himself out of the car into the infernal contraption. " Now, does everyone remember the story? I'm …William Spiker, you're Nathan Angelus, and you're"
"I'm a princess, a princess with a sword."
"Pet, sweet, you won't get a cat if you tell the lady you're a princess. Now what's your name?"
"Drusilla."
"No, your other name."
"Emily Drusill. But that's not my real name. And I'm twenty-four. But I'm not, Spike…." She whined.
"It's a game. Pretend."
"Pretend! Oh, but Miss Edith is missing it."
"You can tell her all about it later. "
They started towards the entrance, Drusilla wafting behind the two.
Sarah Page was a very severe woman. There were no soft edges about her. She had just relocated form New York, and the California attitude hadn't rubbed off yet. Oh, she had a tad more color in her wardrobe than she used to, and she was darker from the sun, but other than that, she was still the same taxi hailing, Bobbi Brown made up woman. She surveyed the unlikely group in front of her. Although they looked like they belonged on Jerry Springer, she could sense that at least one of them, the blonde, wanted help. The dark one, Nathan, couldn't care less, and the woman…well…she didn't know what to make of the woman. One minute she was completely focused to the point of intensity, then she was off in her own little world. Sarah came to a decision.
"Now that we've all introduced ourselves, I think I'd like to talk to each of you one-on-one. That way, I can get to know you better, and maybe come up with some material for us to talk about in our group session. Does that sound good?"
They all nodded. " Okay, then. I'll speak to you first, Mr. Angelus, if that's all right?"
"Sure." The other two wheeled out, the mystifying woman clinging to the blonde one.
"Mr. Angelus. Why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself."
"Well, I'm 28 , my first name is Nicholas."
"And you decided to seek therapy why?"
"It was William's idea."
"Ah, yes, Mr. Spiker. Do you know why?"
"He thinks I'm trying to take his girlfriend away from him."
"And are you?"
He leaned back into the soft couch. " Well, yeah. Otherwise he wouldn't think so."
He looked so smug. Clamping down on her feelings of revulsion, she asked, "Why exactly are you trying to do that?"
"Why not?"
"Well, I could think of several answers right off the bat, but mainly because she's not available. Mr. Spiker and her seem to be quite attached to each other."
"That's what makes it fun." Sarah narrowed her eyes at him. " Mr. Angelus, is it possible you're going after Emily because you can't have someone else?" Aha, now she had him she thought, noticing his sharp intake of breath.
"Uh, no. Of course not. Why would you say that?" he laughed nervously.
"Let's not pretend here, Mr. Angelus. That obviously struck a chord with you."
"Yeah. It did." He rubbed the back of his neck. " There's this girl. I'm sort of obsessed with her."
"What's she like?"
"Wow, that's kinda hard to say. She's amazing. Beautiful, practical, incredibly sexy."
"Where did you meet her?"
"At her scho…" " At the park. She was going for a…walk. And I happened to run into her. Our jobs brought us together a lot, and we started dating. But then we slept together and it changed things between us. I was a jerk and said some mean things and we stopped seeing each other So even though I don't like her anymore, I'm still obsessed with her. "
Oh, great. A stalker. " How does Emily come into the picture?"
"Emily. Well. I dated briefly before she met William. I guess she's just familiar." He paused. " And it's fun to get Spiker mad. We used to double date " back in the day."
"Emily and William and you and that girl?"
"No, another girl. Her name was Darla."
Well, he certainly got around. " So you have a history. Does Mr. Spiker know about the girl you're stal…obsessed with?"
"Yeah, and boy, do they dislike each other."
" I'd like to talk to Emily now, if you don't mind."
"Not at all." He got up quickly and disappeared out the door. Soul searching
