Spike looked up into Buffy’s gaze and winced. “Er, hi?”
“Come on.” Buffy took his hand and, pulling him up, took him over to Faith. “Faith had a vision.” She explained.
“Ahuh. What’s it to do with me, luv?” He said, putting his hands in his pockets while watching Buffy warily.
“You were in it. She saw you and purple. And trees, and shrimp.” Buffy babbled.
Spike peered at the dark-haired slayer.
“Honest.” Faith said. “I’m not sure what it was, it was confusing.” She shrugged. “So, Spike. When did you get back?”
“Couple o’ months. So, how are you all?” He asked the Scoobies.
“Fine.” Willow answered.
“I’m not fine!” Buffy screeched, grabbing Spike by the ear. “You left me!”
Spike didn’t say anything, but looked at the ground, tears brimming in his eyes.
“And now you’re back.” Buffy calmed down.
“Are we quite finished?” Giles asked, annoyed. He stepped forward, carrying a brown satchel like bag that looked rather old. Carefully, he set it on the table, and removed a book out of it.
“What’s this?” Wesley asked, his interest piqued.
“A book of spells. It was also in Faith’s vision. When we realised it was pivotal in figuring out what was going on, I ah, commandeered it.”
“You stole it?” Angel whistled.
“Commandeered. Now, Wesley, I was hoping you could assist me in the translation. It’s rather an ancient form of Sumerian that pre-dates anything I’ve previously read.”
“Of course.” Buffy giggled as Wesley put on his glasses, and Giles wiped his.
After giving her a glare, Giles studied the book again.
“Yes, well,” said Wesley. “This word looks like it could be travel. Then it’s.. ah, yes. No, that must be wrong.”
“What is?” Fred frowned.
“If I translated it correctly, it would say. I travelled in chicken.”
Spike raised his brow, while Buffy burst into a fit of giggles, hanging off Spike’s arm.
“Are you sure you’re not drunk, as well?” Spike asked her.
“Let’s get back to the book, shall we?” Giles said, frowning at the interruption. “I think this bit says, I bricked the red.”
“What?!” Gunn let out. “I could do better than that.” Coming over, he grabbed the book. Studying it, he turned it upside down, and lifted it up to the light so he could see through the page.
“In animo, do do do, kthcg.” Gunn read, having realised that at a certain position, and being able to see the words on the other side as well as the ones facing him, they matched up into roman letters. He was than able to read what it spelt aloud.
“Er, Gunn..?” Angel warned, looking around the room where a storm seemed to be forming, complete with crackly purple lightening. “What did you do?”
“I just read it!” He shouted above the wind. “I dunno what it meant, though. Wes, what did I say?”
“I don…” He cut off as the wind swept them all up.
There was a flash, and the room was left empty.
