How I Survived My Summer Vacation Vol. 2: Chapter one: Trouble in LA

Chapter One: Trouble in LA
Buffy sat in the living room of her fathers house flipping thru the channels. There was nothing on and her dad was at work. He had promised her that he had the whole day off, but...it tuns out that something had come up. Buffy didn't even really know what that something was. Her dad just smiply said that something had come up and that he would be back as soon as he could.

Not much had happened while she was in LA. If she were in Sunnydale she would've already faught like fifty vampires and at least ten demons. So far in LA she had only had to fight one vampire. It had been her best friend from her old school. Turns out she had been made into a vamp and Buffy had to stake her.

After that she hadn't run into any other vampires or supernatural stuff. It was really quiet and Buffy was begining to enjoy it. In a way she didn't want to go back to Sunnydale because it would mean she would have to go back to fighting vampires. It was her destiny and blah blah blah.

She did however miss Xander, Willow, and even Giles. They had grown really close over the past year. She also missed Angel. There was just something about thim that made Buffy feel all warm inside. She hoped to see him when she went back.

Buffy sighed and turned off the tv. There was nothing at all on that appealed to her interests. She picked up a magezine lying on the table and flipped thru the pages. There weren't really any good articles, but she just looked at the pictures.

It was hard for Buffy to remember how her life had been before she was the slayer. It was kind of like it was for her now. Boring days just hanging out by the tv or going to the mall with friends. No vampires or demons to worry about. Part of Buffy missed that life and the other part didn't. It was nice to not be the slayer, but she was. Buffy didn't mind it most of the time. Even if she wanted to quit, she knew that she couldn't.

Buffy put the magezine down and proped her feet up on the table. She had never been as bored as she was now. There was nothing on tv and no good magezines at all in the house. She sighed and got up.

"Maybe I should eat a little snack." She thought to herself going into the kitchen. She was just getting ready to fix her something to eat when the phone rang. She walked over to the phone and picked it up on the third ring. "Hello?" Buffy waited to hear to voice on the other end.

"Hey, Buff." Buffy regognized the voice. It was Xander.

"Hey, Xand. What are you doing?"

"Well, I'm talking to you."

"Right. So, how are things going? Any vamp action?"

"No, actually. It's been pretty quiet since you killed the Master."

Buffy waited a few moments before she responded. She had killed the Master a month ago and she still got chills on the back of her neck when she heard his name. "Yeah...it's pretty quiet in LA too. I've only come across one vampire so far."

"Good, good."

"So, how's Giles and Willow?"

"They're doing fine. Willow is at some computer summer program thing and Giles is...I don't really know. Probably sticking his nose into a book some where."

"Probably." Buffy laughed lightly and sighed.

"You okay?" Xander asked.

"Never been better."

"Seriously, what's wrong?"

"I'm just really, really, really bored. I'm starting go crazy here."

"Is you dad there?"

"No. Something came up and he had to go to work. He was going to take me an ice show."

"Ice show?"

"Yeah...it's a long story so don't ask."

"Not asking."

"I was actually having a pretty good time. It's been nice to spend some time with him. I just hope that he doesn't stay at work for the remainder of the summer. That would seriously suck."

"Sure would. Look, Buff, as much as I would love to stay and talk...I've got to go. My mom's yelling at me to do my laundry."

"You have to do laundry?"

"Yeah. Don't ask."

"Not asking. Bye, Xand. Hope to see you soon."

"Ditto. Bye, Buffy." There was a click on the other line as Xander hung up.

"Bye." Buffy whispered. She placed the phone back on the hook and got out some crunchy peanut butter and some bread. She then got out a knife and fixed her a sandwhich.

Buffy put up the materials she has used to make her sandwhich and walked back into the living room. She plopped back down on the couch and began eating it. As soon as she finished she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and was suprised to see the person standing behind of her.

"Hey, sweetie." It was her father.

"Uh...hi. What are you doing home?" Buffy asked.

"It turns out that thing that came up really wasn't important. There were already some people on it."

"Oh. I'm uh...glad you're home."

"Still enough time to catch that ice show."

"Actually now."

"What do you mean?"

"It ended an hour ago. I gues you um...lost track of time."

"Oh...I'm really sorry. I'll make it up to you. Why don't we go out to eat tonight?"

"That's okay. I was thinking of going to the mall."

"We can go together and eat in the food court."

"I don't know...I mean..."

"Buffy."

"Okay, okay." Buffy smiled. She really did want to go out it her with her father, but she didn't want to come across so obvious.

"Alright. We'll go in about an hour or two."

"Sounds good."

Buffy's dad walked away and into his bedroom. She turned back around and sighed. What was wrong with her? She usually wasn't this bored and almost always could find something to do. She got up and knocked on the door to her dad's bedroom.

"Yeah?" He answered the door not opening.

"Uh, I think I'm going to go out. Is that okay?" Buffy waited for his answer.

"Uh, sure. Just make sure you're back soon. It's getting dark."

"Don't worry, I can take care of myself."

"I know."

Buffy grabed her jacket and walked to the door. She opened it and walked outside. Her father was right. It was getting dark and she hadn't even realized it. He had been gone for a while. Buffy closed to door behind of her and walked out onto the sidewalk.

As she walked her mind went back to the Spring when she had battled the Master. She had killed so many vampires before him and yet it had been her biggest challenge yet. He was one vampire...one lousy vampire. He was one lousy vampire would had almost killed her. If Xander hadn't been there to save her...she would've died.

If Angel would've come alone there was no way Buffy would've ever waked up. Angel was a vampire and therefore was dead. He didn't breathe and couldn't give breaths to anyone else. It was Xander....Xander who had saved her life that night. Had she even thanked him?

"Lookie here...fresh meat!" Someone called out from behind Buffy.

"Does that pickup line usually work on girls." She asked turning around. It was a vampire.

"I don't know. They usually just scream." He replied moving towards her.

"You think I'm going to scream? Think again." Buffy got into her fighting stance ready for the vampire to attack.

"Whoa...are you the slayer?" He hesitated.

"Yeah. You got a problem with it? Too bad." Buffy punched the vampire in the face. He stumbled back, but didn't fall down.

"That's cool. I mean, I always wanted a real fight." He threw three punches and a kick at Buffy. She blocked them all with ease.

"I really don't have time for this." Buffy sighed and kicked the vampire. He fell down and she grabbed a nearby twig. She staked him in the heart and he exploded into dust.

"Why did you do that?" Buffy heard the voice and turned around. It was another vampire. It was a girl with fifteen other vampires.

"He had it coming." Buffy replied standing up. She had to figure out something to do. They were gaining on her and there were too many for her to take alone.

"Well, we're going to make sure you don't leave here still alive." The vampires closed in and Buffy started to run. There were too many of them though and the circle was getting closer around her. A vampire from behind punched her and Buffy fell to the ground. Another vampire kicked her and everything went black.
