Just One of the Girls: Getting Accustomed

Willow took Xander to her and Tara’s room where she could give Xander some clothes. “Why is this happening to me?” Xander asked. “Well, I don’t know, but we’re going to find out,” Willow said, “Now stay here while I find you something to wear.” Willow went into the walk-in closet to try to find some things for Xander to wear. When she came back into the bedroom, she yelled, “Xander!” Xander had managed to find a pair of scissors, and was in the process of cutting into the hair that hung in his face. “What? It was bothering me,” Xander said innocently. “You know, all you had to do was ask,” Willow said. Xander gave her an innocent grin. “Come on, we’ll get you dressed, and then we’ll figure out what to do with your hair,” Willow said.

Tara was helping Giles in another part of the house. “I will not wear that, and I won’t leave this house!” Giles said, eyeing the dress Tara was holding up. “Besides, I don’t see why I need to leave. I feel terrible uncomfortable, and I just want my body back.” “Giles, with Anya gone, you’re the only one who can run the store,” Tara said, “Come on, just put on the dress, and let’s go to the Magic Box.” “Okay. Besides, all of my best books are at the Magic Box,” Giles sighed. “Okay, I’ll leave you to get dressed. Call me if you need anything,” Tara said, laughing as she saw Giles eyeing the dress in disgust.

“Spike, let me help you,” Dawn said, practically chasing after him with a brush. She had loaned him some of her clothes, but was now trying to help him fix his hair. “Sod off!” Spike yelled. Finally, Dawn had enough. She ran at Spike, and tackled him to the ground. “Just let me help you. The sooner I help you, the quicker we get to the Magic Box, the quicker we can figure out how to fix this,” Dawn said, getting off of Spike. Spike grudgingly stood up, and sat down in the vacant chair. “Thank you,” Dawn said, and began to brush. A couple of minutes later, Dawn stepped back. “There, you’re done!” Spike stood up, and looked in the mirror, and immediately began to preen. “Oh my gosh! Let’s just get going,” Dawn said, frustrated. Spike grinned, and followed.

Sam and Riley were in the guest room. Sam was helping Riley get into some ‘girl’ clothes. “I really wish I knew how this happened and when it’s going to end,” Riley said. “I agree. But, can I say that you make a good looking girl?” Sam said with a laugh. “Yeah, well I may look like a girl, but I’m still me inside,” Riley said. “Well, maybe this experience will do you some good,” Sam said. “What do you mean by that?” “I just mean, that by being a member of the ‘fairer’ sex, you may learn a thing or two,” Sam said, “Now, let’s get going, or we’re going to be late for the meeting at the Magic Box.”

“I can’t do this. First of all, I’m a girl, a teenager to be exact. Second of all, I’m suddenly human,” Angel said, pacing Buffy’s room, still dressed in the t-shirt and sweat pants from earlier. “Angel, we can deal with this. We WILL deal with this. First, you need to change, and then we’ll meet everyone at the Magic Box, and figure things out.” Buffy walked over to Angel, and handed him the pair of pants and the top she had been holding. Angel bent down, his intent, of course, was to kiss her, but Buffy stopped him. “I can’t. Not when you’re like this,” Buffy said quietly. Angel nodded his head in understanding, at took the clothes Buffy handed him. “As soon as I’m dressed, we’ll go,” Angel said quietly, and stepped inside the bathroom.

“All right, we need to figure out a game plan,” Buffy said. “Yeah, I wanna find that person that did this to me,” Xander said. Everyone had been pretty shocked when they had first seen Xander. Willow had taken him to a salon, where they tried to fix what Xander had done. Now, Xander looked like a white Halle Berry. “Yes, well that is the reason for the meeting. Now, what I suggest is that we break up into teams. Tara and I will monitor the shop, Buffy and Angel will go try to get some information out of Willy, and the rest of you will ‘hit the books,’” Giles said. “Sounds like a plan,” Buffy said, grabbed Angel’s hand, and left the shop. Tara and Giles opened the shop, and got things ready, and the rest of the gang headed to the bookshelves, and helped themselves to some research material.

As Giles unlocked the front door of the shop, a young man came bursting in. “Hello Trent,” Giles said, forgetting that Trent didn’t know who Giles was. “Who are you, and how do you know who I am?” Trent asked. “Oh, sorry, I’m . . . Jill. I’m Mr. Giles’ niece. Uncle Rupert went of a short vacation, and asked if I could run the store for him while he was away. He told me all about the frequent customers,” Giles said, hoping that Trent was convinced. “Do you happen to know if my order came in?” Trent asked. “Oh yes, your order of mugwort came in yesterday. I’ll just go to the back room and get it for you,” Giles said, and left to go get the order. “Is she single?” Trent turned and asked Tara. “Um . . . she’s only here while Mr. Giles is on vacation. As soon as he gets back, she’s going home,” Tara said. “Yeah, but while she’s here, she may as well see some sights,” Trent said, “Plus, English accents are hot.” Tara bit back a laugh as Giles came back with the mugwort. “Uncle Rupert told me that you had already paid for this, so here you go,” Giles said, handing Trent his purchase. Trent grabbed Giles’ hand, kissed it, and said, “Till we meet again.” Giles smiled graciously, and Trent left the shop. “Ugh! Teenage boys,” Giles said. Xander chuckled, and said, “Someone has a crush on you.” “Oh, do shut up,” Giles said.
