Chapter 11

Cordelia and Angel walked into the parlor hand in hand. Cordelia was giggling at something stupid Angel said to her, or at least, from Buffy’s point of view that’s how it seemed.

Spike and Dawn didn’t know how to react. Spike was tense, staring daggers at his cousin and waiting to see if he had to kick his ass again. Dawn was just watching Buffy’s reaction.

Buffy watched at the couple got their ice cream, and settled into a corner booth. Angel wrapped an arm around Cordelia’s shoulders and pulled her tightly into his body. They cuddled together while eating their ice cream.

“Angel sweetie,” Cordelia called to him, “Isn’t that your cousin over there with those two women?

Angel followed her lean index finger to where it was pointing. Sure enough, she was pointing to Spike, Buffy, and Dawn.

“Uh, yeah, that’s him,” Angel admitted with a gulp when he noticed who the two women he was with were.

“Oh goodie! Let’s go over there; I’d love to meet him!” Cordelia exclaimed excitedly.

“No it’s okay. He’s the type that doesn’t really like to be bothered,” Angel confessed.

“Angel, he’s staring at us, just as the little blonde next to him is. We can’t be rude, I mean, he knows we’re here,” Cordelia reasoned.

“No! I mean, I don’t think it’s a good idea,” Angel said hastily.

“God, what’s your drama?” Cordelia asked him, turning to face him.

Angel sighed, “It’s nothing.”

Cordelia turned back to the bleached peroxide man that was looking at them. Since Angel would not let her leave, she smiled and waved at him, in a way that said ‘Come over’.

“Well luv,” Spike began, “It looks like the chit wants us to come over there with her and Angel.”

Buffy was out of her seat before Spike and Dawn knew what was happening, and was marching her way over to the table. Spike and Dawn shared a look before they soon followed her.

Buffy marched her way to the table and stood right in front of the snuggling couple. “Hey Angel, how are you?”

“Buffy! I wasn’t expecting you to be here with Spike!” Angel exclaimed nervously.

“Buffy?! Oh my gosh! You’re Angel’s sister, aren’t you?” Cordelia asked.

By this time, Dawn and Spike had arrived at the table as well.

Dawn snickered. “Yeah, sister, that’s right. But mine.”

“I’m confused,” Cordelia said, her face showing the confusion. She then turned to look at the gorgeous peroxide man, “Are you Angel’s cousin, Spike?”

“Oh I’m famous. And unfortunately pet, I am,” Spike informed her.

“But you aren’t his sister,” Cordelia added, looking at Buffy.

Buffy rolled her eyes at Angel’s pathetic cover up to Cordelia. “No, I’m not. Cordelia, Angel was dating the both of us at the same time,” Buffy announced.

The brunette girl looked at Angel, disbelief playing in her pretty eyes. “Sh-she’s lying,” Cordy said, her voice cracking. “Right?”

Angel sighed, “Cordy…please.”

“Was I not pretty enough?” Cordelia asked, with a hint of vulnerability in her usually holier-than-thou voice.

Spike chuckled, “Are you serious, luv? Look at you, you’re breathtaking. Why are you wasting your time on this whelp?”
Buffy looked at Spike, with jealousy running threw her.

Angel also looked at him, glaring daggers at him. He then sighed and dropped his head into his hands.

Cordy turned to Spike, a small smile forming on her glimmering lips. She then turned to Angel with a frown, “You said you loved me.”

“He said that to me too,” Buffy added crossing her arms over her chest.

Cordelia grabbed the rest of her ice cream and threw into onto the tall man, “You son of a bitch!”

“Actually his mom is a really nice lady,” Spike added grabbing the rest of Angel’s ice cream from the table and beginning to eat it, “I don’t know how he turned out like this.”

Angel fell back onto the floor screaming because of the cold liquid connecting with his face and designer jacket. “Holy fucking shit!” He screamed.

Cordelia was watching him, tears forming in her eyes. Buffy put her hand on the brunette’s shoulder and steered her out of the parlor, leaving Angel on the floor inside. Dawn and Spike followed right behind, but not before Dawn nailed a nice kick to Angel’s shin, leaving him screaming in pain. When they got outside, Cordy exploded into tears.

“What the hell am I supposed to do?” Cordy asked, “I have no where to go!”

“What do you mean?” Buffy asked.

“I live with him. I moved in two days ago,” Cordy said, “My mom and dad kicked me out once they found out I wanted to move in with him.”

“You can stay with me,” Spike suggested.
Cordy sniffled and looked up at the bleached hunk, “Really? I don’t want to intrude.”

Spike smiled, “Not a problem, the couch in the living room folds out into a bed. You can borrow some of my clothes until you can gather up the strength to go back to Angel’s place and get your things—“

“Or,” Buffy pitched in, “You can stay at my place. We have a spare room!” Buffy liked the girl but she didn’t trust her with Spike. Not that he was hers… she just—hell she didn’t know what she was doing.

Spike turned to the blonde with a smirk. “Or you could stay with Buffy,” Spike said his eyes never leaving Buffy’s form.

Cordelia didn’t want to be rude, but she didn’t really want to stay with Buffy, being she was with the same man she was. Cordy knew that Buffy must have some anger issues with her, she did steal Angel away. “Umm, no, maybe I should stay with Spike.”

“Not a problem,” Spike added.

Buffy nodded. “Okay, well, I’m tired,” She said in a cold voice, “Can you just take us home?”

Spike patted his pockets looking for his smokes. When he found them he opened it up and pulled out a cancer-stick, as Dawn called it, lit it and plopped it into his mouth.

Dawn finally spoke up, "Yeah spike, take us home then go have your fun with Cordelia here....since she’s best at taking people’s boyfriends"

Cordelia looked at the younger girl in shock at her cruel words, “I—“

“Dawn, you know Cordelia knew nothing about the truth of what Angel was doing,” Spike told her.

Dawn sighed grabbing Spike’s arm, pulling him aside, out of earshot from both Angel’s exes. “What about Buffy?” Dawn asked.

“What about Buffy? Come on bit, you heard her. She said there was nothing between us, and I respect that,” Spike answered.

“But—the kiss!” Dawn exclaimed, “You can’t tell me that was ‘nothing’ kiss.”

Spike sighed, “I care about your sister, yeah, but she doesn’t-. Look, Nib, just drop it, okay?” He walked back to Buffy and Cordelia not giving Dawn a chance to respond. Dawn walked grumpily behind him fuming.

“So, Cordelia, are you staying at hotel Spike?” Spike asked her.

Cordy nodded, “Yup.”

“Alright, ladies, I’ll drop Buffy and Dawn off and then bring Cordelia place,” Spike announced, “So, let’s head to the car.”

Dawn sighed, seeing the look of hurt cross over her sister’s face as they started to walk toward the car. Cordelia and Dawn sat in the back and Buffy and Spike sat in the front.

“Can we listen to music?” Dawn asked moving forward in the seat, “The silence is intoxicating.”

Spike and Buffy both reached for the radio at the same time, there hands touching. Spike looked away from the road for a second to see Buffy lock eyes with his. She was smiling slightly. Her face darkened from the lack of light in the car but a street light caught her hair, making her glowing. If he hadn’t realized he loved this woman before he would have realized it now.

Cordelia and Dawn watched from the back seat, leaning forward as the second moved as slow as possible. Buffy pulled away quickly, throwing everybody back into the real world. Cordy even sighed when Spike looked back to the road. Buffy’s gaze just returned out of the side window.

---

Spike walked into the apartment after dropping off the Summers women, Cordelia right behind him. “So,” Spike said stopping in the living room, “You want to… shower?”

“Umm, yeah,” Cordy answered. “So, Buffy was dating Angel… for how long?”

“I’m not really sure, last night made the break up official,” Spike told her, “Or so I’m told.”

“So, she’s lucky she’s got you now,” Cordy said, “A little fast though… isn’t it?”

“We’re not… together,” Spike told her.

---

Buffy twisted and turned in her bed, looking around the dark room. She sighed while turning over onto her side, trying to find sleep. But no matter what she did, she couldn’t get comfortable.

She eventually gave up and sat up in the bed. She walked out of the room, opened the door to Dawn’s room, and saw her lying in her bed fast asleep. She made her way into the room and sat on the bed. She pushed some of the hair out of the young girl’s hair lightly.

“Buffy?” Dawn asked, opening her eyes heavily.

“Yeah, Dawnie, it’s me,” She whispered, “Couldn’t sleep.”
Dawn moved aside slightly patting the spot next to her on the bed. Buffy curled up next to her sister and closed her eyes as Dawn draped the covers over them.

---

Cordelia stepped out of the bathroom shower and noticed the black shirt and blue boxers on the sink; she quickly changed into the clothes and sighed at how she must look. A wet rat came to mind, and she looked in the mirror seeing her reflection: makeup less and wet.

She walked out of the bathroom and saw Spike in some boxers. He was pulling the bed out for her and setting some pillows and blankets up for her, “Umm, do you have a brush?” She asked, when she found her voice after practically drooling over his chiseled abs.

Spike nodded, “Yeah, I’ll get you one in a second.” Spike finished putting the two pillows on the bed. He moved to his room and grabbed the brush off of the dresser. He walked back out into the living room and handed her the brush, “There you go.”

She smiled, “Thanks.” She began running the brush threw her knotted dark hair. When she was done she handed him the brush and sat down on the bed. “Comfy,” She commented. “So, really,” She began talking, patting the spot next to her.

He sat down on the recliner next to the bed. He knew he could have the dark goddess if he wanted to but… he didn’t. Not that she wasn’t attractive, but whenever he thought about shagging his mind suddenly linked to Buffy.

Cordelia nodded pleased with where he’d chosen to sit. She wanted to see where his loyalties were. After all, she wasn’t stupid, she knew he wanted Buffy, but she just wanted to know how much. “So, you and Buffy?” Cordelia asked.

“What about me and Buffy?” He asked sliding back on the chair, letting his body slouch.

“Do you really think I get turned down often? Come on, you’re whipped on her.” Cordy told him, as if he didn’t know. “Give her some time, she’ll come around. You saw her right? She was completely jealous when she knew I was staying with you.”

“Really? She didn’t seem-,”

“It’s a girl thing,” Cordelia told him, “And when you said I was breathtaking, did you see the look on her face? She was practically begging for a compliment.”

Spike did nothing but smile. Maybe, just maybe there was hope after all, and that was just the crumb he needed.
