Dawn!: Chapter 20
by Monkey Pants
Andrew's head pounded. He wasn't sure if he was doing the right thing. But it was a decision that had to be made.
In his mind, he could see tinted pictures of Spike, Xander, Buffy and Dawn's boyfriend. He sighed. For in glorious technicolor, running across a field in slow-motion was her. His love. Dawn Summers, the most-
'Andrew?' came Dawn's voice, breaking his nostalgia. He jumped. It was time to be a man, and take control of his actions.
'Dawn', he said softly. 'We haven't known each other long, but you have taken my heart and trained it to love only you'.
Dawn smiled unsurely. He cleared his throat, and took her hands in his.
'I have tried to make myself worthy of your love, have sought advice from the love god himself, thwarted many perils, but now it as come to this. Dawn, remember, when I'm in LA and full of lovelorn angst over losing you, live. Live like there's no tomorrow...'
'Uh, Andrew?', Dawn dropped his hands. 'You're movie quoting, right?'.
'Dawnie...I have to...'
'What? Leave me here?', Dawn yelled, tears streaming down her cheeks.'Leave me like this, when I...you...us... I thought you loved me!'
'Dawn, I do, that's why...'
'God, can't you just leave your melodrama alone for one second! This is not a movie! Plus, Angel's already done this whole "leaving to LA for the sake of love" thing. It's passe! Please!'. Her lower lip trembled. 'Please Andrew. Don't leave me. Stay'
Andrew's heart broke in two, but he was determined to follow his decision through. Dawn would get over him in due time.
He shook his head. She let out a final sob, and run from the airport.
Andrew looked on. He felt very tragic, and oddly, it felt unsatisfying.
'Well, LA it is', he mumbled, and turned to get on the plane.
As the plane flew off into the distance, Dawn, unseen, watched, tears trickling down her face.
