When good girls go bad: A passage in a forever love story

by Psyche2

A/N: This is one of those chapters that one might think has nothing to do with the story. And before you say, but theres no Katherine or Jack or wierd man in this story....think. And wait 'cause it will be revealed..someday. Reviews would also be nice, because I think I did awesome on this chapter. Or at least I hope I did.

A beautiful young girl, who was no older then 17-18, smiled at a man who was a year or two older then she. The two looked lovingly at each other. There love was evident. But they had tried to keep that a secret. Now as he had just told her they could make it final, who cared about what the others thought. They could finally overcome any obstacles, hopefully. She was so happy, that tears sprung to her eyes.

“Don’t cry Katherine” he soothed and pushed away a lock of golden curly hair from her face.

“I’m so happy different emotions are coming out”

“I know how you feel, I have never been so happy in my life”

They looked at each other once again and kissed, long and passionate. They final broke off and he said, “We will make it work, I promise” and Katherine nodded finding it reassuring.

He smiled and kissed her; nothing could spoil this, nothing at all. Behind them water, from a small fountain, bubbled and the stars around them shone brightly.

“I love you,” she said

“I love you too,” he answered

He then took out a beautifully carved box and withdrew a ring. “I know it’s sudden, but are love is final” he took a deep breath and then said, “Marry me Katherine”

“Oh Jack” her eyes brightened as she studied the ring more with awe, “I will, I always will”

Jack smiled and looked around, “I have to go”

“Yes, of course” she held his hand tightly, “I will see you tomorrow?”

“Most Definitely, ‘till tomorrow” she kissed him and then broke off smiling as they broke grasps in the hands and he walked away.

Jack walked away happy that the woman he loved was going to marry him. He walked toward the arch that led up to the house and then, eventually in to the street where he would walk home. He walked through the arch and past the balcony and into an area that held a gazebo when one didn’t feel like lounging by the garden. Around the gazebo were little groups of assorted plants that had once held him in awe. That was before he had met Katherine. “Congratulations” a voice said as he went through the gazebo.

He looked around, startle. “What?” he asked

“I heard or rather just realized the news”

Jack turned around to see a man about the same age as himself, he was in a fancy suit and his hair was welled care for. He had a gleam in his eyes, which meant that something was going on, something Jack hadn’t found out about yet.

“What news?” Jack asked

“The engagement, nicely planned, I would have expected dinner and a show but your way was quite nice”

“How do you know?” Jack asked astonished, but then realized he should’ve guessed that he would find out sooner or later.

The man tapped at his head and then shook it. “With the past that we have, I would’ve thought that you knew I knew things way before they happen”

“We don’t have a past” Jack gritted through his teeth not trying to remember that night.

“Yes, we do” he paused and the gently shook his head, “Or don’t you remember the incident with you begging me for your life?”

“That was foolish, but that doesn’t mean that we had anything, you’re a monster, I am not”

“Jack, when do you learn?” as if it was this guys trade mark he walked toward Jack and said, “The debt you owe me is now greater than one puny life”

Jack seemed to shake uncontrollably, “I paid you for that, and I won’t do it again, that was wrong”

“Oh really” the man said with a smirk on his face, “Why are you so worried about that?”

Jack straightened his shoulders. “Because I have a soul, and I live, and she loves me”

“Interesting answers…” the man shook his head as he looked at the other man, it was obvious that he thought himself larger and older, and more powerful. “You won’t have to worry about any of that anymore.”

Jack had a look of pure terror on his face. It remained on his face as the other man’s face changed into that of a monster. “Ready to be bad?” he asked in a voice that had a growl when the man spoke.

Jack then tried to back away but only ended up backing into a wall. He opened his mouth to scream, but knew that would be of no use to him or others. He felt a tear go down his face at the thought of Katherine. “No” he said and with one last burst of energy and courage tried to get out of the bigger mans way. Though as soon as he did that the bigger man put his arm out and shoved him against the wall. Hard. That one quick motion caused him to black out for a moment. Which was lucky for him because he didn’t quite feel the prickle of fangs in his neck. He did remember the feeling of pain throughout his whole body and a huge energy drain afterward. That drain cost him his life. Or the new un-life he would have. Jack was no longer Jack, then. He had changed into a monster and would soon change the life of the one he loved most and the ones that she loved most. At this, started something that wasn’t supposed to happen, not by normal standards anyways. The story of Jack and Katherine, had only just begun that’s why many are only told the tale of that one part rather than the beginning, probably because demons and vampires and the occasionally Watcher and Slayer combination, are the only ones who ever actually are interested and listen to such a tale. And also because vamps like the blood and demons just like the angst. The point is Jack and Katherine had a long way to go, there is that whole there love was never to be repeated thing, that that witch or sorcerer set up or found out about, only there is that future prophecy…but we won’t get into that yet. That is for another passage, and now this one shall conclude, but here are parting words: Love is something that can be forever, or it cam is short, God (or whoever you this is in charge) does not make the choices we ourselves are up to that.
