Beginnings: Part One of the Darksider Trilogy: Part One

This story asks: What happens when Vampires go into the Terrorism business? Real terrorists are bad enough, but Vampires? Hang on folks...it's gonna be a bumpy ride!

Author's Note: This isn't your typical Buffy story, Faith didn't turn evil and Graduation never happened. Buffy, while she's still the slayer, is far from invincible and so are the rest of the slayerettes. They have a lot to learn, and the other characters, a lot to teach. As for the title, "Darksider" is a community term used to refer to those in Special Operations units, such as counter-terror teams, like Fangpuller.

Part One

The scene around the bank was utter chaos, The amount of flashing, spinning and just ordinary lights was unreal. The local PD had it's hands full just maintaining the perimeter, and with the FBI here handling negotiations with the terrorists, who had made some VERY odd demands, things couldn't be more chaotic,. There were local and state cops, Federal Marshals, FBI and even a few ATF guys and gals, and of course, the media, though, so far, they had been very cooperative in staying behind the police lines.

But, things began to deteriorate around the fourth hour of the siege, the terrorist leader had made a demand for 20 liters of human blood, when it wasn't delivered within the hour's deadline, they'd thrown out a dead hostage, twin puncture wounds to the neck and drained of all his blood. That's when the FBI said they were calling in a very special team.

The team arrived two hours ago, they'd worn all black and balaclavas to hide their identity, they were very deliberate in their actions, their sniper team took up a postition overlooking the bank, and their recon team had easily "spiked" or bugged the building. Their negotiators took over from the FBIs people, and were simply buying time for the assault team to cross their "t"s.

The actual assault was violent and quick, Flashbangs, small pyrotechincal devices that generated brilliant flashes and loud noises meant to stun a terrorist, went off at both the front and back of the building, shatteing most of the glass in the bank. The sniper team engaged and took out one of the terrorists nearest the window at the same time. Meanwhile, the other three terrorists were taken out by the assault team, turned to dust before they could make one step towards the hostages by well-placed shots from the assault teams MP-5s.

With a chorus of "Clear!" from the four assault team members, it was over, the whole assault had lasted fourty-five seconds. The team filed out quietly, after instructing the hostages to tell the press that the FBI had saved their lives. They filed into a black minivan with darkened windows, and as quickly as they had arrived, they left.

Once they were clear of the scene, their leader removed her baclava, Buffy Summers shook her sweaty mane of blonde frizzled hair. "Good work gang, what do you say we Bronze when we get back to Sunnydale?"

The rest of the team, Giles, Willow, Oz, Faith, Cordy, Xander and Angel all nodded their accent, adrenalin was still working overtime, their driver was still hooded.

Xander said their feelings for all of them "Christians Four, Lions One!" and clasped hands with an equally elated Oz.

The masked driver replied "Let's not get too cocky, we still lost one".

Everybody's mood darkened a bit with that thought.

Fangpuller team celebrated yet another sucessful mission.
