Los Angeles Is A Charming Town: Chapter Five

Los Angeles

Phoebe flipped exasperatedly through the phone book.

"You know, a little help would be nice here," she called upwards exasperatedly. There was a swirling of blue and white lights, and Leo orbed in. "That isn't what I had in mind," she sighed, putting her head down.

"Phoebe, the Elders are concerned about you being here," he warned her.

"The Elders are concerned about us doing anything that doesn't involve pure, white magic and playing by the rules," she pointed out. Leo didn't say anything, just moved on.

"There are already some... Some beings here that are keeping this city free of evil, and they don't like you being here with Cole. They're scared that something will happen to cross the two worlds." (Leo was hesitant to tell Phoebe that one of these beings was a "good" vampire.)

"Leo, something's already happening. I had a premonition that Belthazor was going to take a dark-haired girl away... She was fighting him, along with three guys."

"Were they witches?"

"I... I don't think so. But one had his face all screwed up, all bumpy and fanged."

(At this point, though, Leo had to overcome his hesitation.) "Phoebe, that was a vampire."

Phoebe stood up. "Whoa, wait a minute. A vampire is fighting against Belthazor? Who's evil here?"

"Belthazor, Phoebe! Look, could you just listen? The vampire is good. See, what makes vampires evil is that they have no soul. When you give them their soul, they're good... If they can overcome the guilt, that is, of what they did while evil, that is."

"So, now there's good vampires AND bad vampires."

"Angel is the only souled vampire at this point in time."

"Okay. So, vampires are good...."

"No, just Angel. Look, do you remember what he looked like?"

"Yeah, kind of..."

"He's the only good vampire. Don't trust any other vampires, Phoebe."

"Got it. Angel good, Belthazor and other vampires evil."

"Yes. Now, how did you know about Belthazor?" Phoebe winced, realizing that she'd let the cat out of the bag.

"I... I had a premonition."

"What!? Phoebe, you had a premonition, but you came on a vacation anyway?"

"No, Leo, wait. It's because they were all in Los Angeles, and I was coming to Los Angeles. And, see, now I'm here--so I can find them AND fight Belthazor with them, AND have a vacation at the same time."

"You need the power of three to vanquish him," Leo insisted.

"Yeah, Leo, but--"

"So I'm bringing your sisters. We'll stay out of your way, unless you need us to help vanquish Belthazor. Just call me when you're ready, and I'll bring them."

Phoebe sighed, but decided that she wouldn't get a better offer... Besides, all things considered, her sisters had the active powers, not her.

"Okay, Leo. Just--no orbing in without warning again." He nodded, concentrated, then disappeared with a whirl of white lights. Right then, Phoebe remembered that she STILL didn't know how to get in touch with the people in her vision. At least now she had a name....

Angel.
