Los Angeles Is A Charming Town: Chapter Two

Los Angeles

Cordelia dumped her belongings on the bed. It was bad enough when they'd had to work out of her place--but now they were working out of a hotel?

"I'm not too sure that Angel's the one with the soul," she muttered to herself. They had to work out of a hotel that was, up until a few days ago, evil. At least she didn't have to live there.

"Cordelia?" Wesley came into her room.

"Hey, Wesley." She turned around to face him.

"Are you getting settled in?"

"Yeah. I figured I'll probably have to stay over a few times," she told him, explaining the clothes on the bed.

"Yes, I would imagine..."

"Hey." Gunn stood in the doorway.

"Oh, hi," Cordy said to him. Lowering her voice a little, she asked, "Can you believe him?"

"Who, Angel?"

"Yeah. I mean, this hotel is evil! The colors, everything about it! And I'm sure that there's going to be more of the bad coming."

"Yeah, well, there's nothing around now. Only bloodsucking fiend here is the boss." Cordy let out a small shriek as she fell over backwards.

Wes managed to catch her before she hit the ground. She convulsed in his hands for a minute, before opening her eyes. "What was it? A vision?"

"Yeah. A big, ugly... Thing."

"What kind of a thing?"

"A... An ugly thing, Wesley!" She gave him a disgusted glance. "I already said that!"

"Was it a demon?"

"Yes," she said in an offended tone of voice.

"Is it actually evil this time?" Gunn asked skeptically, remembering their recent failure when Angel had killed a good demon that was protecting a woman and her unborn child, based on a vision of Cordelia's.

"Yes, Gunn! It was trying to kill us!"

"All right," Wesley soothed her.

"What did it look like?"

"Um... It was big, but not fat. It was all red, with black stripes. It was bald, and wearing a lot of black. Ooh, and it could shimmer places."

"That's not a lot to go on," Gunn pointed out.

"No, but it's all we've got."

"Its eyes were pure black," Cordy volunteered.

"Anything else?" Wes asked her. "Um, no." She paused, cocked her head. "The Powers seem to have problems getting specific. Maybe sometime, I'll actually get a decent vision."

Wes smiled a little at that--her visions were much too vague, according to everyone.

"Then let's get going." No one had noticed Angel come in, black overcoat and all. He looked at them all, as they flashed back to their earlier discussion. "What?"
