Part Seven
Willow looked carefully at the twins and their parents, “What’s wrong with Dru? You know what she’s feeling because you feel it to.”
Faith looked at Dru, who was watching them and was slowly starting to warm up again, “Hank.”
“Hank who?” asked Spike.
Buffy looked at the ground and avoided eye contact, “Hank Summers. He’s our biological father.”
“WHAT!!!!!” exclaimed Xander, “Why are the two of you here then?”
Faith looked around in sorrow, “It’s a long story so please wait till we finish to ask anymore questions okay?”
Everyone nodded.
Faith started slowly, “Our biological parents were Hank and Joyce Summers. We grew up in Los Angeles, right in the middle of the city.”
“That’s what I almost let slip the day we met, remember?” asked Buffy.
Cordy nodded, “Yeah, I thought Faith was going to kill me right there for pushing the subject.”
Faith nodded, “Anyway, we were actually normal kids; played soccer, took dance, great in school. Hank owned a computer business and Joyce ran an art gallery. We got by okay and everything was great.”
Buffy continued, “One day Hank came home from work acting funny, it was so weird, he kept going on and on about how his name wasn’t Hank and how he had no idea who we were. Mom was pissed, she thought that he messing around with us and she was not happy.”
Faith started up, “That night was really weird Hank kept going on and on. That night was the worst night of our lives. Hank had finally stopped complaining and had gone up to bed so Joyce, Buffy, and me had dinner. At about two in the morning Buffy came running into my room and woke me up.”
Buffy started crying, “I had gotten up to go to the bathroom and when I walked past our parents’ room I smelled something awful. So I opened the door and on the bed lay Joyce, burning in flames and I screamed really loud and I ran to get Faith. I had woken her up when Hank came bursting into the room yelling about how we were the devil’s spawn and stuff. He then threw gasoline everywhere.”
Faith picked up, “You have to remember, we were nine so we had no idea what was going on or why. He just kept on yelling and screaming. Then he closed and locked the door. We both attacked the door yelling for him to open it and to let us out. What we didn’t know was that Hank had smothered the outside of the door as well and threw a match at it. Thankfully neither of us was standing by the door when it burst into flames. I remember Buffy screaming and crying. I ran to my window and opened it. One thing that neither Hank nor Joyce realized was that the tree right outside I had been using for years to climb onto the roof when I couldn’t sleep.”
Buffy closed her eyes, “I remember Faith grabbing me and pulling me towards the window. From here everything gets kinda blurry for me, but we climbed out and headed towards the other side of the tree. The firemen and police showed up and the next thing I remember is waking up in Jenny’s arms.”
Faith shook her head, “What B doesn’t remember is that we spent three years in an orphanage and that she was seen by therapists everyday because she wouldn’t talk about anything except the fire. When Buffy really really woke she didn’t remember her own fall inside of herself.”
The two girls stopped their story and looked at everyone to hear their comments.
