A New Love: What Now?

"Oh God," said Xander. "Oh God, Oz," Willow said. "We have to get out of here," said Oz. Cordelia looked at them in horror and ran up the stairs and fell through them. "Cordelia!" Xander shouted. "I fell," she moaned weakly. A huge stick was sticking out of her. Later, Willow was in her room thinking of what this would do to her relationship with Oz. Basically, it was over. Thinking about what she had done brought tears to her eyes. But, what was she supposed to do now? She laid down on her bed and closed her eyes. At his house, Xander paced his room. All he could think about was how much he was willing to take back that fatal kiss with Willow to get Cordelia back. He had seen her a little earlier, and she had yelled at him to stay away from her. He felt so bad. Cordelia was his first real girlfriend. Before that he had spent a year obsessing over Buffy. He sat on his bed and gave a huge sigh. What was he going to do now? Meanwhile, Buffy went over to Angel's and knocked on the door. He answered it. "Buffy?" he said. "Um...I need to talk to you," Buffy said nervously. Angel looked at her for a minute. "Okay, what's up?" he asked. "Look, obviously we can fool my friends and my mom, but Spike saw right through us. You and I will never just be friends. I need to stop seeing you," Buffy finished. Angel looked at her. "So, you're saying I can never see you again?" he asked with anger and pain in his voice. Buffy nodded slowly. "Unless you can tell me you don't love me." Angel opened his mouth to say it, but he couldn't. He realized he loved Buffy, but didn't understand why they had to stop seeing each other. "Why, Buffy?" he asked. "Because I know you're not Angelus anymore, but being around you might make me tempted. I'm sorry." A tear leaked from her eye and she ran out of the mansion.
