Phoebe stood in the center of the room, eyes black, fiery embers burning her hair. Her skull was bare, skin ripped away. Blood was like her skin now. Her body was tangled in burning creeper, scolding her bone.
Her voice was low, sharp and demonic. You could hear the death, violence and anger exploding in her words.
"THEY HAD TO GO SLAYER! SO NOW IT'S JUST YOU AND US. DEMONS..."
"So when did I fight you, 'cos seriously I don't remember. You mustta been kinda lame, don't you think, if I can't remember you?"
Phoebe started to twist, wriggling. Her skull started to stretch, hellish horns rising. She started to grow, body forming another. It was the First.
"REMEMBER ME NOW! THIS TIME YOU WON'T WIN. YOU CAN'T WIN. SO MANY OF US, SO LITTLE OF YOU. YOU OUGHTA JUST BUY A COFFIN WHILE YOU CAN!"
Buffy looked up, unable to believe what was before her. She shook her head wildly, before her legs gave way, the wind rushing past her cheeks. Her body crumbled down into nothing more than pain. Her breath was ripped from her, white, acidic shards digging - penetrating her skin.
She knew what was happening. She'd felt it all before. She was dying.
Her screams were barely audible, the rushing sound of death roaring everywhere. Her body wriggled and twisted, agony soaring like a thousand vultures through her flesh. Her head filled with the emptiness of nothing, and everything stopped. Her rough, panting breaths stopped. Her swaying movements stopped. The pain stopped. Still as the stars under a moon lit sky, her body lay. Dead.
"BUFFY! BUFFY! WHERE ARE YOU!!!" A voice pushed it's way through the silence, breaking into her ears.
And suddenly, as if someone had pressed re-wind, the crackling of life began again, the pain eminating in a final explosion, Buffy was back. Somehow, whoever had spoken, gave her a will to fight back, to stop death in it's tracks. To stop the forces of nature. The darkness that filled her eyes was blown away, and she was free to see again.
"Buffy!" She heard the deep voice call, and she instantly knew who it was. Riley.
"Riley?" She saw him rushing towards her, his arms open, a broad smile greeting her back into the living world.
He hugged her so tight, too scared to ever let go again.
"Riley? I thought you were in hospital? I'm so glad... You've saved me!" Buffy's words just wouldn't come out, and all she had to say was a mouthfall of tearful babble.
"I'm better now. I'm so happy your okay. When I came and saw your body lying so still, I thought..."
"So did I. For a minute I was dead. You saved me..."
"I love you Buffy. I love you so much. Please, don't ever leave me," As soon as he'd said it, he wished he hadn't.
"No. Not now, not here. There's a battle brewing, and we need to be ready to fight."
"Sorry, but it's already started. The ultimate war has begun. Humans versus Demons. Where is everyone, Willow, Xander? What did this to you?" He looked at her bruised body, at the blood that dripped slowly from every part of her body.
"They're gone. All of them. It's just me now," She remembered the First, "Oh my god. We have to get out. It's here... somwhere. Quick!" She tried to get out of the house, but Riley didn't let her.
"There's nothing here! Whatever was here, is gone. It's only us."
"No... Riley it's somwhere in here. I can feel it. The First. The First..."
"Buffy, it's - " And with that word, the walls begun to crack.

Anyanka stepped through the cave. All around her she was surrounded by blood and death. Bodies hung like trophies from the cold, moulding walls. Bodies that she'd killed. All her years as a vengeance demon, she'd never had such power. But now she was in charge of the Demon world, in charge of hell.
"Anyanka," the Demon hissed, his long tongue wriggling.
"Did you succeed? If you didn't, you know what I'd have to do!" Anyanka replied, her voice much deadlier than ever before.
"I did master. She survived my macicks but she couldn't survive bricks," his face twisted into a distorted grimasce.
"Bricks?" Anyanka's face looked angry, she couldn't understand. Bricks?
"I brought the house down. Literally. There's no way that even a Slayer can avoid falling buildings."
"Excellent. Round up the last of the Demon's. It's time."

The cave was dark and musky. The place smelt, and sewage water dipped solemnly from the ceiling. Cages hung from the celing, dried blood rimming the edges.
The body started to stir. It was Spike.
He gasped as he saw his surroundings.
"Bloody Hell... Help! Someone!" A shadow emmerged from the corner of the room, "Hello?"
"Hello Spike. Did you like our little trick back there?"
"Anyanka..." Spike pushed himself further into the cage, for the first time in months he actually feared for his life.
"As far as anyone else knows, your dead. Your dead, Willow's dead, Angel's dead, Giles is dead... not really of course. You've all been spread out around the country."
"Why the hell... why don't you just kill us. Trust me it'd be much less hassle."
"Now, now Spike, if we told you that it'd wreck everything. So you just be quiet now." Anyanka dissappeared into a mist of darkness, leaving Spike alone in the cave again.

As the walls crumbled around the Slayer, Riley held her in his arms, a single tear falling from his eye.
"RILEY!!!" Buffy screamed, and pulled him closer into a warm embrace, "WE HAVE TO GET OUT!"
And with those words, piles of bricks and stones fell upon them, Riley falling to the floor unconsious. Buffy screamed, collapsing onto the floor, begging for saviour. Suddenly, an explosion of blue flames errupted all around them, the falling bricks spinning off into another direction. Buffy's head began to swirl, her whole body wriggling. Her world was spinning out of control, as they vanished from the falling building.

"Riley... where are we?" Buffy's head still hurt, she couldn't concentrate.
Rilley stirred a little, before opening his eyes to stare at his true love.
"We alive?" He asked looking around him at the massive cave.
"Somehow. I thought we were going to die
"GET AWAY FROM HIM!" Buffy screamed, darting through the mass of bloodied fighters. She pushed the monsters, and humans aside, one man her main priority.
