Dislcaimer: See Chapter One

Back at the Hyperion, Angel and Spike were deep in conversation. “You know, right before I died in Sunnydale, Buffy told me that she loved me,” Spike said, looking intently at Angel. Angel just looked at him. “I know that she has feelings for you,” Angel said. “Yeah, but she doesn’t love me like she loves you. She thinks of me like a good friend, or a brother. By you mate, you’re her soul mate. Nothing can get between you two,” Spike said quietly. Angel just looked at him with a smile. “So, what are you going to do?” “Well, I’m not quite sure. I was thinking of trying to get a job. Maybe here in California.” Angel laughed. “You as an English teacher. I don’t know how well any college will accept the Billy Idol look,” Angel said with a grin. “I know, I know. I have to really tone it down,” Spike said. “Well, I don’t really know anything about fashion. But, I do know of a couple of girls in Rome that could help us,” Angel said with a smile. Spike smiled back.

So, Angel and Spike left for Rome. Gunn and Illyria, who now went by the name Lisa, were working full-time with Anne at the shelter. They were happy in this new job. They were also happy for Angel and Spike. Angel had sold the Hyperion to a woman named Cori, who had great ideas for it. Angel had a good feeling about her; he knew that the hotel would be successful in her hands. As Spike and Angel boarded the plane for Rome, they reflected on their lives, and what the future held for them. Angel knew that the gang in Rome knew about Spike and Angel. Angel just hoped that Buffy was going to accept him. He had missed her deeply. He wanted to be in her life, and hoped that she wanted him in her life, too. The plane ride was uneventful, and Spike and Angel slept most of the way. As the exited the plane, and found their luggage, they also managed to find out where Buffy and Company were stationed.

They had managed to purchase a very large villa just outside Rome, and it was large enough to house all the Slayers, and all the Watchers-in-training. They managed to rent a car, and made the hour drive out to the villa. What they saw literally made them stop in their tracks. It was a large building, three stories high, sitting right on a bluff, overlooking the ocean. “Wow,” Spike said. “Yeah. They certainly found a big enough building to house them all,” Angel said. Angel and Spike walked up to the door, and rung the bell. As they waited, they reveled in the sunlight. They hadn’t been in the sun for so long, that it had taken them a couple of days to get used to going out in the sun without worrying about catching on fire. They were brought out of their thoughts by the sound of the door opening. Standing before them was Giles. “Hello Spike, hello son,” Giles said with a smile. He immediately grabbed Angel, and embraced him. “We all felt the news, and are extremely happy for both of you,” Giles said. Angel and Spike were speechless as Giles ushered them into the house. Giles led them into the living room and they came face-to-face with Faith, Willow, Xander, Dawn, and Buffy. But, Angel only had eyes for Buffy, no one else.

As Angel walked into the room, Buffy began walking towards him, holding something in her hands. “Angel,” Buffy said, kissed him soundly on the lips, and put something in his hands. Angel looked down, and saw a cookie lying in his hands. “I take this to mean that you’re ready?” Angel asked. Buffy smiled. “So, no hard feelings, Spike?” Buffy asked. “Nah, I knew I could never really come between you two,” Spike said with a grin. “So, can I ask why you’re here?” Dawn asked Spike. “Well, while Wesley did the spell to make us human, Fred did a spell to give us driver’s licenses, social security cards, and degrees. My degree is in English, and if I want to be an English teacher at a college, I can’t look like Billy Idol.” Dawn squealed. “Oh my gosh, you want a make-over ” Everyone laughed. "Yeah, but don't make it sound like that,” Spike said with a grimace. Buffy smiled. “You’re in luck. One of our new Slayers graduated from cosmetology school,” Buffy said. “Yeah, but hair isn’t enough. You can’t teach when you look like that; you need new clothes,” Dawn said. “He isn’t the only one. Angel, you can’t wear dark colors now that you can go into the sun. We’ll get you some new clothes too.” Spike looked at Angel and laughed. “Okay, well, let’s get you guys settled; we’ll do hair and clothes tomorrow,” Willow said with a small grin. Willow led Spike and Angel to the second floor. She put Spike in a room all by himself, and put Angel in Buffy’s room. “Have a good night you guys,” Willow said with a grin. Spike enjoyed his room, which overlooked to ocean. Angel couldn’t have been happier. “I can hear it,” Buffy said. “Thump-thump. Thump-thump. It’s real. I’ve dreamed of this for so long.” “I know, me too,” Angel said, watching as Buffy placed her ear to his chest to listen to his heart. He quickly felt his heart rate go up. Buffy laughed, and Angel felt it reverberate in his chest. He grinned, picked her up, and threw her on the bed. “Couldn’t wait, could you?” Buffy said with a laugh. “Are you kidding? Five years without you? I thought I was going to die.” They quickly got reacquainted with each other. They stayed up all night, and watched the sun rise.
