Part Eleven

Day 11

"Who can tell me the answer to number 5?" Angel asked his class, half of whom were sleeping. That would be the male half, all the girls were at rapt attention when he was in front of the room.

Buffy raised her hand for once. Angel almost died of shock. "Yes, Buffy."

Buffy smiled sweetly. Angel only called her, Willow, and Xander by their first names. To everyone else it was "Miss" or "Mr." He called Willow and Buffy by their names because they were friends, and Xander because he didn't have any respect for the little twerp whatsoever.

"Well, during The Boston Massacre, it was the colonists fault because they shouldn't have started that riot.".

Angel blinked. They had just spent an hour going over this the night before. "No, it was the fault of the British for trying to control them in the first place."

"Um, nooooo. Those soldiers were only taking orders. They had weapons because Britain could afford them, otherwise I think the colonists would too, even though they weren't allowed. But those colonists just attacked the British, they had to fight back.".

Angel shook his head. "Britain had no right to control those people. They treated them like bastard children, even though they sent them there.".

Buffy argued back, her temper rising. "But they were being attacked. I mean, if someone came up to you with a big stick or baseball bat and tried to hit you and you had gun, what the hell would you do?".

Angel set down his book and glared at her. "It doesn't matter, they shouldn't have been their in the first place.".

"Well, they were and they had to defend themselves!".

"But it's a matter of justice!".

"It's a matter of common sense!".

The two stared at each other with a fiery passion. Everyone else in the room was silent, just watching the debate. "Why don't you stay after the period is over, Miss Summers, and we can continue this debate then?".

"Fine," she said, grinning inside.

After Class

After everyone else had left the room, they closed the door, locked it, and pulled down the shade.

"You don't really care what happened, do you?" Angel asked with a smirk on his face.

"Nope," Buffy said, grinning.

"You just wanted to stay after, didn't you?".

"Yup.".

The small talk was over, and a very heated make out session began.

In the hallway

Principal Snyder grumbled as he walked down the corridor in the basement. There had been several reports of rats and the janitor was nowhere to be found. He had been chosen to investigate. Damn school board! He was walking right past the history room when he heard a crash. From inside.

Classroom

Buffy and Angel paused. They had been in a very comfortable embrace against Angel's desk when the stapler had fallen off. No big deal. Until the knock came at the door.

"Mr. Giles?" they both heard Principal Snyder's voice call out as he tried to jiggle the doorknob.

"Um, yes?" Angel called.

"Open this door right now.".

Buffy ducked and hid underneath the desk. Angel straightened his clothes and his hair and felt for any lipstick on his face. Once he was appropriate, he opened the door.

"What can I help you with?" Angel asked nervously.

Snyder tried to peer behind him into the room. Everything looked in order. "I heard a noise.".

"Yes, I dropped the stapler.".

"Why did you lock the door and pull down the blind?" Snyder asked suspiciously.

Angel smiled. "To keep those horrible children out. High School students are the worst. They're annoying, loud, and fidgety. On my breaks I like to keep as far away from them as possible.".

Snyder actually smiled. "Good work here, Mr. Giles. Too bad your uncle can't be more like you.".

Once Snyder was gone, Buffy came out. "You are such an ass kisser," she complained, and headed out the door.

Angel grinned, watching her walk away. Sometimes it paid to suck up.
