Jealous, Much?: Part 2

by Jaide

The tears came quicker, now that he was alone. He hated Tyler for taking away his Buffy. He couldn’t contain it any longer. He picked up a vase and smashed it against the wall. The destruction calmed him. He opened his fridge and took out a bag. He fed hungrily, and grabbed another. He had two more before he was calmer. Calmer, not better. This time he threw a glass paperweight. He was on his way to smashing a glass figure when he stopped. He looked at the figure in his hands.

It was a glass butterfly. It had been Buffy’s. He’d seen it many times in her room in LA. When she had become the slayer, she’d had a fit. Throwing everything out the window. Angel had found it lying under a tree and taken it. He treasured it. As he fingered it, he cried even harder.

He sat down in his chair and buried his head in his hands. He stayed there until he heard the soft knocking on his door. It could only be one person. He thought about how he’d seen her kissing Tyler. He loved her more than anything he’d ever loved in his long lifetime, and she had betrayed him.

He ignored her. "Angel," he heard her plead. "Please, let me in. I know you’re home," he continued to ignore her.

"I’m sorry, ok? It was a big mistake, it never should have happened, I wish to God it hadn’t. Please, Angel, I don’t care about him anymore, I swear. I know you’re hurt and mad, but please, forgive me," he was still silent.

Buffy walked away, her face was wet with tears. The one thing she loved most in the world swept away in one selfish act. She had never felt so miserable in her entire life. She headed home.

Buffy was exhausted the next day at school. She hadn’t slept at all, and she felt horrible. Willow and Xander greeted her at her locker.

"Hi, Buffy, we met your friends at The Bronze last night," Willow told her cheerfully.

Xander nodded in agreement. Buffy shot them a look, and they were instantly worried. "Buff, what’s wrong?" Xander asked.

"I think I just lost something I really treasured forever.

"Don’t worry, we’ll find your hairbrush," Xander joked.

Willow elbowed him hard. This wasn’t ordinary Buffy sorrow, she was really depressed. "Buffy, what is it?"

She sighed, and brushed her hair out of her eyes. "Last night, Angel showed up at The Bronze. He met my LA friends, and he was jealous of Tyler, and probably Pike. Tyler and I took a walk, and we ended up kissing in the park. I didn’t mean to, it was completely unexpected and a big mistake. Angel had followed us and, well…."

"Oh, Buffy…" Xander knew how upset she must feel.

"I’m sorry. Did you explain to Angel what happened?" Willow asked.

"I went by his apartment, I knew he was home from the shattering of his possessions I could hear him destroying, but he wouldn’t let me in. He wouldn’t even say anything. It was kind of….scary."

Just then the LA gang showed up. Xander gave Tyler the "Evil Eye", which looked more like he had an ingrown eyelash.

Angel spent the day sitting on his bed, legs up to his chin, thinking. He couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat. It was probably good that he’d eaten when he was till angry. The anger was gown, replaced by sorrow and hatred. He remembered feeling like this only once. When Buffy had been killed. He had hated The Master so much, he’d hurt his girl. Now, he hated Tyler. He’d taken his girl.

He resolved he couldn’t sit here and watch her be taken from him. If he forgave her, Tyler would probably steal her away again, and hurt Buffy even more. He had to move on, forget about her. He had to end it.

Buffy went by Angel’s apartment once again. She could here him stirring around inside, but she couldn’t face him, not now. She was startled when she heard him approaching the door. She ducked behind a trash can and watched as he came out. He looked really bad. His shirt was untucked, hair uncombed, and he had his brooding face on. He sulked to the stairs. His eyes were full of pain. She waited until she knew he was gone.

She headed to the cemetery for patrol. She seated herself on top of a grave. No vampires were around, and nothing was out of the ordinary, so she headed to The Bronze. She spotted her friends sitting at two tables pulled together.

Tyler looked smug, Pike looked mad, Willow was worried, and Xander was angry. Everyone else wasn’t paying attention. Oz was playing on stage, and Cordy was out of town, so they were the only ones missing.

"Hey guys. What’s wrong?" she asked, instantly worried.

"Seems like Dead Boy gets around fast," Xander told her.

"What?"

* * *
Angel made sure Buffy could see him. He had realized how bad he must look, so he’d combed his hair, tucked in his shirt, and tried to look charming. It was easy to find an available girl. It was one of Cordelia’s friends, a real ditz.

He flirted with her constantly, moving close. Finally, he leaned down and kissed her. He could tell Buffy was watching, and he tried to feel better, but he just felt worse. Especially when he saw the hurt on her face when she stormed out. He pushed away the guilt and continued flirting.

* * *
She couldn’t believe he’d done that!! What a jerk! She’d made one slip-up and he was dumping her for some blonde Barbie.

She headed home, eager to go to bed. Her mom stopped her on the way upstairs. "Buffy, come here, there’ something we need to talk about."

Oh, great, now what? "What is it, Mom?"

"Well, your father and I have been talking, and we think it might be better if, if….you move in with him," her mom told her. She was obviously not to keen on the idea.

Buffy was shocked. Back to LA? Was that what she wanted? But what about Willow? Or Giles and Xander? And Angel? No, Angel was gone. He didn’t matter anymore. In fact, going back would probably hurt him…. And she missed LA, and her friends there. They had a vampire problem, too. Besides, Giles could take care of everything here.

"Mom, I don’t know, I mean, I burned down the school…"

"They have a brand new high school, Thomas Jefferson, I can’t lie. I don’t like this idea, but your father misses you, and we think it might be best. Some weird things have gone on in this town, and it’s safer in LA," her mom told her.

"I’ll have to think about it," Buffy said. Think about what? She couldn’t just leave, not again. But, it wasn’t that bad of an idea. Maybe she could get away from slaying. There weren’t as many vampires there. And like Cordelia once said, that close to that many shoes. She’d have to sleep on it.

* * *
Angel couldn’t sleep again. He’d managed to feed, but he was getting worse. He missed Buffy, badly. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d been away from her for this long. Sure, it’d been two days, but that was beside the point. He regretted doing what he did. He’d just made things worse. Tonight, he would talk to her, apologize.

* * *

After school, Buffy invited her friends over to her house for a horror film marathon on TBS. Xander and Roland had loads of junk, plenty of chocolate. Buffy’s mom worked late, so they had the house to themselves.

They had just finished Dracula, Dead and Loving It (Buffy’s favorite) and now Teen Wolf was starting (Oz’s favorite.) It was dark outside.

Christian was laughing at Roland who was off doing his best impressions of Snyder. Willow was in a deep conversation with Crista about computers. Buffy was a little surprised at this. She didn’t know Crista was into computers. Jackie was having a blast with Oz and Xander, while Buffy was sitting between Pike and Tyler watching the movie.

She hardly noticed when Tyler put his arm around her, she had been so used to it before. But, someone else noticed.

* * *
Angel could not believe what he was seeing! He had his arms hanging on her, and Buffy didn’t even care! Anger boiled through him as he watched through the window. Tyler pulled her closer, and she rested her head on his shoulder.

* * *
Buffy was tired. She hadn’t slept the night before, so she didn’t resist when Tyler pulled her to him. Besides, he knew they were just friends.

* * *
He turned and walked stiffly home. What could he do now? Buffy would never choose him over Tyler. He entered his apartment and started smashing anything that would break when hurled against the wall by an angry vampire.
