TIES THAT BIND
Beautiful day for an update huh? Yeah, so I’m going through fixing my story and all in the same night. Forgive the romantic in me if I get stupid in some of the things I write.
Disclaimer: It slipped?
----- Chapter 3 -----
The sun streamed through the windows, the house began to stir with life. Slowly zombie-like creatures, groaning in agony, stumbled into the kitchen.
Willow was already up and had a large pot of coffee brewing; she cheerfully greeted everyone as they entered the kitchen. The group stood around in the kitchen savoring the coffee and mumbling what could be interpreted as greetings.
Eventually everyone was awake, showered, and dressed. Buffy and Xander were taking the guests on the grand walk through tour of Sunnydale. Buffy took the group to the new high school and showed them several shops around Sunnydale.
“And here is the local club, ‘The Bronze’, located on the bad side of town.” Buffy narrated with dramatic arm gestures.
“What’s the difference between the good side of town and the bad side of town?” asked Jean
“About two blocks.” Xander replied
The group eventually returned to the Summers’ residence to eat and tell stories. Buffy noticed that every time Scott told a story there seemed to be elements missing. Like telling a joke with out the punch line, but she shrugged it off. Maybe he just sucked at story telling.
---
That night Buffy and Willow decided to sneak out and patrol. Dawn and Xander kept the New Yorkers distracted for the rest of the night till everyone just went to bed, and then Xander went home.
“So Buffy what do you think of your guests so far?” asked Willow
“They’re great. Scotty has grown up so much and Jean, those two belong together. Dawn and Xander both adore Ororo, although Dawny likes her as a sister and Xander…you know… The only person that kinda leaves me undecided is Logan. I can’t figure him out.” Buffy hopped up onto a gravestone.
“He is definitely interesting, and after that towel incident maybe he’s shy…” Willow suggested as she hopped onto a neighboring tombstone.
“It wasn’t an incident, it was me in a towel… You make it sound like I just pranced down there to impress him.” Buffy whittled at her stake, not paying much attention to anything else.
“Alright maybe the towel thing was an accident. But I think you like him, you’ve mumbled his name several times in your sleep.” Willow stated mischievously
“You are going to hell if anyone but us hears about that.” Buffy responded. She stopped suddenly, then looked off into the distance. “What does it matter? The only relationship I’ll ever have is the one with Mr. Pointy, my stake.” Buffy tapped the tombstone to prove her point.
“Buffy don’t give up hope, your surrounded by people who love you.” Willow got up and gave Buffy a hug.
Unknown to the girls was a demon hidden in the shadows. About four foot tall with obsidian scales and spikes protruding from his head, the creature had claws on its fingers and toes and hung upside down in a tree. As it watched the Slayer it cracked a cruel and vicious smile revealing rows of sharp fangs. The creature jumped down and stealthily made its way to the Slayer.
Willow looked just in time to pull Buffy from the tombstone as the creature charged. He hissed at the girls and the leaped for Buffy. Buffy immediately kicked the creature in the jaw, but it slashed her leg open.
Buffy punched the obsidian beast in its head, but the protruding spikes stabbed her. Buffy ran at the beast and landed a solid kick that should have cracked its ribs, but the monster landed an overhand right to arm flaying it open. Buffy continued to fight whatever demon this was, it slashed and bit and Buffy was rapidly losing blood. Finally Buffy signaled Willow to run for it, Buffy was a step behind her fleeing friend.
The monster not bothering with the traditional chase, decided to cut them off by jumping the cemetery walls. As it landed it realized it’s error, the girls had faked running one direction then turned around and ran another. Still the creature ran, but by the time it rounded the corner the girls were gone. Roaring in frustration, he took his anger out on some random passerby. He ripped the blonde girl to pieces then went back to his underground lair.
