Against All Odds: Here Be Monsters

It was night and Angelus was on the prowl. With Darla at his side and bloodlust flowing through his veins, he grabbed the noblewoman that they had been stalking, by the back of her neck, and pulled her back wards against him. She yelped and sobbed quietly, fear over coming her. “Now, now, dear,” Angelus spoke in his Irish accent. “Don’t muffle your screams, it’s not as excitin’.” Angelus smiled, his fangs showing and his golden eyes piercing the night.

“Angelus…” Darla reminded him that she was there. She wasn’t even sure he was completely there all the time.

“Do you want the first bite?”

“No, I would rather watch. Continue, Angelus.”

Angelus opened his mouth over the blue bloods neck, and sunk his fangs in. The blood slid down his throat; warm, sticky, and sweet. The bite stunned the woman although it held no venom.

Drusilla walked up beside her grandsire to enjoy the show, “Grand-mummy, why do you only watch? Why not prey?” Dru put out her hands like claws and swayed to music, which only she could hear, “Ripping away of the flesh and letting blood flow like red wine.” She snapped to attention quickly, and looked like a pouting, innocent child, “Daddy,” she referred to her sire, Angelus, “are you finished yet?”

Angelus let the limp body that he held drop to the ground. He faced away from his sire and childe, and let his features smooth over – back into human form. He turned to the female vampires. “Dru, where has our blood lusting new comer wondered to?”

“He’s visiting Mary to see how her garden grows.” Dru answered, dazed as usual.

“So, he is in a garden?” Darla looked around. “Sweetie, this is England, which one?”

“The one surrounding Rapunzal’s tower.” Dru replied.

“The royal garden.” Darla said testily. “That boy, always wondering away. We should go and fetch him before he gets himself into trouble.”

Angelus sighed and headed toward the palace. ‘Off to find William the Bloody, again.
