Wesley smiled as he saw Illyria kill Vail. It made him feel good; vindicated. Now, he was hovering in Limbo, waiting. From the mist, he saw shapes, wandering around. Wesley wandered, too, hoping to find someone he knew. He was wandering, when he ran into someone. “Oh, I’m sorry,” Wesley said. “It’s okay, I was looking for you anyway,” the man said. “Do I know you?” “Well, we never met, but I’m sure you know of me. I’m Doyle,” the man said, and extended his hand towards Wesley. Wesley accepted; “I’ve heard a lot about you. You truly were a hero.” “You weren’t so bad yourself. Look at what you just did,” Doyle said. “I did do pretty good, didn’t I. I’m just sorry that I can’t be down there to help them with the battle,” Wesley said sadly. “No worries, mate. They are going to do just fine,” Doyle said. Wesley’s heart lifted at the news; They’re going to make it. I know they will. “Right now, we need to get you through orientation,” Doyle said. “Huh?” “Well, if you are going to be a Higher Power, you need to go through orientation,” Doyle said. “Wait a minute; Cordelia became a Higher Power, and look what happened to her; her body was highjacked.” “Well, we’re not perfect, but we have gotten much harsher with our security. We have made sure that something like that will never happen again. Now, we need to hurry; the sooner you get through orientation, the sooner you get to see your family, and others,” Doyle said.

So, Doyle took Wesley by the hand, and led him to a silver stairway that had suddenly appeared in front of them. When they reached the top, they came face-to-face with Cordelia. “Wesley, it’s so good to see you,” Cordelia said, and quickly pulled Wesley into a warm embrace. “Cordelia, are you the person giving me my ‘orientation?’” Cordelia laughed. “Believe me, it’s easier than you think.” She closed her eyes, and placed one hand on Wesley’s heart, the other on top of his head. Wesley felt something pass through him, and saw a brilliant silver light envelope him. A moment later, Cordelia lifted her hands, and opened her eyes. “Wow,” Wesley said. “Yeah, it’s like that,” Cordelia said. “”So, what now?” “Now, you are ready to be a Higher Power. I’ve already chosen your placement personally,” Cordelia said with a smile. She waved her hand, and a portal opened up beside her. Wesley looked through, and saw a beautiful green meadow, with plenty of trees, and a large lake. Standing next to the lake was a beautiful woman, with long brown hair, wearing a long white dress. “Fred,” Wesley whispered. “She is going to be your partner; part of out new security system. This way, we can tell when someone is acting a little schizo. You monitor each other. She’s been waiting for you,” Cordelia said with a small smile. Wesley smiled, and stepped through the open portal, and watched as it closed behind him.

As he walked towards Fred, he felt butterflies in his stomach. He had missed her so much, and now he was going to be with her for eternity. He looked down at himself, and saw that he looked normal; no wounds to be seen. As he got closer to Fred, it was almost as if she sensed him. She turned, saw him, and began to run in his direction. He caught her in his arms, lifted her off the ground, and twirled her around. “Wesley! Oh my Wesley!” “Fred, my love. I’ve missed you,” Wesley said, through tears. “I’ve missed you. I’ve been watching you since I died. They told me that I could. I don’t want to seem cruel, but I wanted you to die, so that you and I could be together,” Fred whispered. “Fred, I am so happy to be with you.” They kissed passionately. “So, what do we do now?” Wesley asked. “Well, let me take you to where we get to live,” Fred said, took Wesley’s hand, and led him around the lake. They came to a small patch of grass near the other side of the lake. “Is this where we are going to live?” Wesley asked. “All we need to do is hold hands, concentrate, and create the home that we want to live in. The really nifty thing is that we can change it anytime we want,” Fred said, and took Wesley’s hand. Together, they created a beautiful home right on the edge of the lake, on the opposite side from where Wesley appeared. Just as they had finished creating their house, they heard a voice behind them. “This is a beautiful place, but I need you to go to work for a little bit,” Cordelia said. ‘What do you need us to do?” Wesley asked. “I need you two to observe the battle going on down on Earth, and help out a little.” “What battle? It’s been a while since I got here; the battle must be finished already,” Wesley said. “Honey, time passes differently here,” Fred says. “Yes, according to Earth time, you’ve only been gone ten minutes,” Cordelia said. “Well, how’s the battle going?” Wesley asked. “Not good. If Angel, Spike, Gunn, and Illyria lose this battle, the Senior Partners win; we can’t have that happening. So, you guys are going give them a little boost; help them to win.” So, Wesley and Fred walked around the side of the house, and found a large fountain. Wesley waved his hand over it, and a view of the battle appeared in the water. “Now, if I did your orientation right, you two should know what to do,” Cordelia said with a grin, and disappeared.

Wesley and Fred stared down at the battle. “This is really not going well,” Fred says. Angel, Spike, and Illyria were fighting with all their might, but Gunn was fading fast. “All right, you work on Angel and Gunn, I’ll take Illyria and Spike,” Fred said. Wesley nodded, and studied the pool of water. He touched the pool of water, right over Gunn’s heart. He grinned with satisfaction as he saw a look of grim determination come over his face. Wesley then focused his attention on Angel. Although he looked fierce, Wesley could see that, inside his soul, Angel was fading. Wesley touched the pool of water, over Angel’s heart. Wesley grinned as he saw Angel’s soul shine brighter. Fred looked to Spike and Illyria, and gave them a boost of energy, confidence, and fighting spirit. Wesley and Fred continued to watch the battle until the end. Finally, after Angel had defeated the dragon, the battle was done. Cordelia came back to them, “Good job guys. The Senior Partners suffered a huge loss, and won’t be back on the scene for at least a millennium. You guys get to do one more thing before you get a small vacation.” “What?” Wesley asked. “You guys get to give both Spike and Angel their Shanshu.” “Wait, Angel signed away his Shanshu, and I didn’t think Spike would get one,” Wesley said. “Angel sacrificed his chance at humanity so that he could save humanity. Spike showed great heroism in this battle, and the Powers have decided that he too deserves humanity,” Cordelia said with a smile, and disappeared. “You know, that is getting a little annoying,” Fred said. “The appearing and disappearing thing; yeah, I know,” Wesley said. “Okay, let’s go do this,” Fred said. “This should be fun,” Wesley said with a smile.
