Resurrection: Part Two
by BuffyT
Buffy and Willow were walking home as dusk was setting in.
"So you just killed him? How did it feel? Like your heart was wrenching into a million pieces because you were killing your one true love?"
"Kind of like that. I didn't even realize what I'd done until it was too late." Buffy and Willow walked into Buffy's room and descended the stairs. "I guess I had to kill him sometime though." They entered Buffy's room and sat down.
"Can I ask you something?" Willow asked timidly.
"Of course."
"When you and Angel were..." she coughed. Buffy looked at her and nodded knowingly, "yeah...what was it like?"
"Gosh, I can't even begin to explain. It was so wonderful, I...never wanted to let him go. It's like...okay, remember when Xander was almost about to kiss you? Like that momentary feeling of euphoria multiplied kajilions of times."
"He didn't turn into a...bad vampire?"
"Nope, it was perfect." Buffy smiled as she remembered that night. "It feels like any second I'll see his face at my window." Buffy walked over to her window and looked out, as though she expected Angel to come walking down the street at any moment. Then, realizing he wouldn't be coming, tears came to her eyes. Willow came over to her and stood beside her.
"You're perfect for each other." Willow comforted Buffy.
"Were," said Buffy wiping the tears from her eyes.
"He did love you."
"I know." said Buffy. She sat down on her bed. "I used to wake up in the middle of the night and he would just be sitting there, watching me sleep." Then Buffy, overcome with emotion began to sob. She hid her face in her hands. "Oh, Will, I loved him so much. And I'm the one who destroyed him." Now Buffy really broke down. Willow came over and sat down next to her heartbroken friend.
"It's okay," said Willow, soothingly. "You gave him one moment of true happiness." Buffy sat there, sobbing quietly, as Willow comforted her.
The next day in school Willow and Xander were walking down the hall.
"Hey Willow," said Oz coming up behind them.
"Oh, hi Oz." said Willow blushing a little and turning away from Xander. "I had a really great time on Sunday."
"Yeah, yeah, I had a great time, too. So we're doing it again, right? You wouldn't deprive me of seeing you again, would you?" Willow giggled.
"Of course not! I'm going to the Bronze tonight." she said hopefully.
"Actually, I was planning on going, too. I'll see you there then. Around 9?" said Oz.
"Okay. I'll...i'll...see you then." said Willow
"Kay." Oz gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and continued walking down the hall.
"Bye," said Willow. She turned back to Xander and they continued down the hall.
"What is wrong with that guy?" asked Xander, exasperated.
"What do you mean?" said Willow.
"He's all over you! That guy just needs to take his dingo band and get out of town!" said Xander angrily.
"Oz is a great guy." said Willow. "You're just jealous." Xander looked at Willow with his mouth open, not able to find the words. Both of them knew she had just hit the problem.
"He's a werewolf, Will. ŚNuff said." Willow shrugged.
"A cute werewolf." she said as they headed into class.
Buffy hurried into school, her hair tousled and her eyes tearstained and red. She had not slept well the night before, for her thoughts had been focused on Angel. As she turned a corner in the hallway, she saw Giles and Ms. Calendar in the library discussing something. She pushed open the door hard.
"Hello, Buffy." Giles greeted her as she walked in.
"Hello? Giles, how could you be talking to her? She betrayed us!" spat Buffy.
"It wasn't her fault." said Giles, trying to calm her down.
"She betrayed us!" yelled Buffy.
"I made a mistake," said Ms. Calendar.
"Damn right," muttered Buffy bitterly.
"I should have told you. But now I'm trying to help. I can save Angel."
"He's been searching for for a cure since he got his soul back. And now he's dead! Giles, why should we trust..."
"He's been looking in all the wrong places." interrupted Ms. Calendar.
"I've looked over her plan. I think it will work," said Giles. Buffy looked at them suspiciously.
"Let me explain it to you." said Ms. Calendar. "I have Angel's ashes." She indicated the box. "Giles can cast a spell that will turn him back into a vampire."
"I don't like to use it. Sometimes vampires use it to get back a very important person." said Giles
"So he'd be a vamp. Then we'd be back to where we started." said Buffy.
"Yes, but then I'd use a very special curse: it will make him human again." said Ms. Calendar.
"You can do that? Why didn't you do that before?" Buffy asked accusingly.
"I hadn't even heard of it, but when my uncle came I found it in this book he had with him. It was already too late by that time. And now that Angelus has killed him, I can use it as I want." Ms. Calendar explained. "There's a couple things, though." Ms. Calendar and Giles exchanged glances. "We'll have to do the spells very fast and close together or Angelus might escape. And when he becomes a vamp again he will be very weak, and needs to be strong so he can make the transition to a human. He'll need blood. Slayer's blood."
Buffy didn't even flinch. "I'll do anything if it will bring him back."
"You're very brave," said Giles admiringly. "We will, um, do the ceremony this saturday. Until then, get some rest. You must be strong."
"Thank you so much!" Buffy said to Ms. Calendar. "If this works, oh I don't know! Please let it work!" Buffy ran out of the library to her next class.
