Darkness Fades: Part Four

"I found something!" Xander shouted.

"What?" Giles looked up.

"'The chosen one will be sent two days before the devil rises and will prevent it with the help of a fallen friend. She will fight her only weakness and fade into the darkness, never forgotten.' Boy, that sounds peachy." Xander said sarcastically.

"Who is the 'fallen friend'?" Giles asked.

"Well, we know her only weakness is Angel, so he can't be it. Maybe it's one of us?" Willow said.

"But none of us have 'fallen', whatever that means. No, it's not one of us. Maybe a friend from Buffy's past?" said Giles and he looked back down to his book.

"'Fade into darkness' what does that mean?" Xander asked suddenly.

"It can mean many things. She could die, just leave, become evil, or disappear. Anything really." Giles then went back to his book.

A couple minutes later, Willow made a discovery, "It says here, 'the chosen one will be sent to stop the devil from being set free from hell. She will have an old friend with her to stop him and will lose her only weakness in a fight against it.' Does that mean that Angel will die?"

"Finally!" Xander muttered.

"Probably. But now, we still don't know who this 'old friend' is?" Giles continued to look in his book.

Willow was curious and decided to get a closer look.

At this point, Angel and Buffy came in through the doors, "Well look at that. You're all here. Saves us the trouble of looking for you." Angel grinned from ear to ear.

Willow quickly logged off the Internet and shut down the computer. Xander closed all his books and they both stood up at the same time.

"What do you want?" Giles asked.

"Well, apparently Buffy is different from other vampires and I want to know why," Angel said. He knew that they weren't going to do anything funny, they still cared for Buffy.

"What do you mean different?" said Willow feigning innocence.

Buffy silently cheered.

"She fears nothing normal vampires do. Sunlight, crosses. She even has a reflection. I want to know how. And you are going to find out for me."

"And if we refuse?"

"I'll kill one of you every half hour until you say you will."

"And when we're all dead?"

"Not you. No, the civilians. The people who don't know about us or refuse to believe in us. That's if you don't cooperate. "

"What do you want us to look up?"

"Stuff about slayers becoming vampires. Look in your watcher diaries."

"Fine."

They did just that. Slayers becoming vampires. No information found in any of Giles' slayer related books. He told Angel about the previous slayer gone vamp.

"But Buffy doesn't seem to be having any problems. Oh look it's almost sunrise. Buffy you stay here and watch over these guys. I'll be back at my apartment."

Once Angel left, Buffy changed back to her normal self.

"Buffy, you have until tonight, before you face the devil. You better go home and rest." Giles was concerned about what was going to happened tonight.

"Yeah. I'll get some sleep," and then she was gone.

"Buffy! Buffy!" someone was calling to her. She turned towards the voice.

Miss Jenny Calendar

"Oh my god!" Buffy was shocked.

"I came back to help you. I know I still have to make it up to you for what I did. For not telling. For not trusting you with my secret. I came back to make it up to you."

"No! It's okay! It's my fault you died. All because I fell in love with a vampire. Now I am one, something that I hate. If I hadn't gotten to know him... if I killed him when I had the chance. None of us would be like we are. None of this would have happened."

"No. It's not your fault I died. It's not mine either. The only one responsible for my death is Angelus."

"Angel. Why did you leave me?" she whispered to herself.

"You have a battle you must fight and I am here to guide you. To help you get through this next ordeal. And to help you, I will provide you with knowledge, to help you see the way. Buffy use it well and you will prevail."

Flashed of visions and voices came and went and then all of a sudden everything was dark and Miss Calendar was gone. She started to cry.

Angel awoke at the sound of her cries and he wrapped his arms around her, "It's all right. It was just a dream. You're awake now. Nothing can hurt you. I won't let it."

She threw her arms around his neck and cried.

After awhile, when she had stopped crying, he lifted her chin and gave her a passionate kiss.



She continued to kiss and ended up naked in his arms.

Two hours before Buffy had been reborn for forty-eight hours. Two hours before she had to fight again. She left Angel before he woke and went to the library to meet the gang.

When she walked in, Willow came up to her and put something in her hand. She looked at it and she felt so sad. She pulled Willow into a hug, "Thank you," she whispered.

"I got it from your mom, yesterday. I told her I was going to bring it by your grave, because I knew you'd want it close."

"Thank you." They both started to cry.

"It's almost time," Giles announced.

"Wait! I have to get something," Buffy left the library and ran to the computer lab. She bent down beside the desk and pushed the filing cabinet aside. She picked up a yellow computer disk. After getting this, she ran back to the library and hands it to Giles, "Look at it for me, 'K Will. Just wait till I'm gone."

Giles looked down at the disk and took it, "Gone where?" He looked up and she was gone.

"Apparently 'Gone with the Wind'" joked Xander.

"Willow put this in the computer for me."

Willow put the disk in and opened the only file there. Giles looked at it, "Where did she get this?"

"I saw her go to the computer lab. Why?" replied Xander.

"This is the curse to restore Angel's soul," Giles stated. He looked up, stunned.
