Buffy the Vampire/Slayer: Part 2
by Tracy Vetter
Buffy woke up in Giles' office, laying on a table. Or to be a bit more precise, she woke up TIED to a table.
Buffy knew immediately that if she tried, she could break free, but she decided against it.
"Giles! Get me outta here!" she yelled.
Giles appeared in the doorway, followed a moment later by Xander and Willow.
"This isn't funny, Giles." Buffy said, trying to convince him that she still had her soul.
Giles stared at her quizzically.
"Gimme a break, Giles. You know it's me and I didn't go all double- ugly demon on you, so what's your problem?" Buffy demanded.
"We can't be sure, Buffy." Giles said.
"Well, forget you then." Buffy said, breaking the ropes that bound her to the table.
Buffy hopped down and laughed as the trio stepped backward. "God, you guys really DO think I went mega-evil, don't you? Get a grip, I'm fine." Buffy said.
A moment later, she doubled over in pain. Xander was the first at her side. "Buffy?" he whispered, his voice frightened.
"It...hurts..." Buffy gasped. She fell to the floor and curled into fetal position, letting out a low moan.
Giles was by her side too, finally. Willow had gone for one of Jenny Calendar's relatives, who still dabbled in the Black Arts a bit.
"Buffy, hang in there. Everything is going to be alright." Giles said, for lack of anything better to say.
"Giles, what IS it?!?" Buffy demanded.
Xander paled as he stared at Buffy. Her face went from it's usual sweet, school-girl look to that of a demon as she writhed in pain.
"I think she's losing her soul, Giles. We'd better lock her up." Xander said, hoisting Buffy onto his shoulders as if she didn't weigh more than a feather.
After Buffy was safely locked up in the now-empty weapons locker, Xander and Giles got the surprise of their lives. Buffy stood up, free of all pain suddenly, and she grinned at them, her vampire visage still firmly intact.
"Aw, aren't you guys coming in here to keep me company?" She said, with a distinct hiss in her voice.
Xander trembled. Giles' face hardened as he gazed at his Slayer.
"This isn't you, Buffy. We know that. Don't worry, though. Will went for some help, and you'll be back to normal before long. Trust me, okay, Buffster?" Xander said encouragingly.
In answer, Buffy growled menacingly. Xander took a step backward.
"Well, fine. Be that way." he said, trying to be macho still.
Giles took a step toward the cage, as if to observe something of great importance about their all-powerful-Slayer-gone-bad. Buffy hurled herself at him, smacking herself against the bars.
Giles staggered backward, shocked. The phone rang just then. Xander went to get it hastily.
A moment later, he was back. "It was Ms. Calendar's neice. She and Willow are on their way, but it's going to take them until sunrise to get here. Don't ask me why." he said.
Giles glanced back at Buffy, who was staring at them both hungrily.
"This is going to be a very long night." Giles said, sitting down slowly. Xander looked at Buffy, and a very curious thing happened. His fascination with her stopped. He stopped seeing her as a super-human gorgeous terrorist chic, and instead he saw her for who and what she really was; a beautiful, smart girl, who had been as human as the next girl until Angelus had killed her and seen fit to dump her on Giles' very doorstep. It was going to be a long night indeed.
