Part Four

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The doorbell rang. Cordelia ran downstairs to answer it and admit Willow into the house. They sat down at the kitchen table and sipped some tea that Cordelai made.

“Uh… forgive me for being skeptical Cordy, but… Why do you want to talk to me? To ME?”

“Why wouldn’t I want to talk to you?”

“The whole Xander thing?”

“Xander? Oh, him. Forget about it. He was just a kid anyway. I thought I loved him. Now, I realize it wasn’t love, really.”

“So what did you need to tell me?”

“I’m in love.”

“Oh, good! I’m happy. With who?”

“Spike.”

“Okay, I’m not so happy. WHAT?!?!”

“Well, you know, he kidnapped me and…”

“He kidnapped you?!?”

“Yeah, where did you think I was the past two days?”

“And you find this endearing?!?”

“Listen, Willow, you’re the only one I can talk to. Please, try to help me with this, okay?”

Willow sighed. “Okay. I’ll try to keep an open mind. But please, backtrack a little, and explain it to me from the beginning?”

The next few hours was spent in the kitchen, with two young girls sharing stories of their hopes and fears in love, like has been done may times before. You could almost forget the extenuating circumstances. By the end of the story, Willow was all love-struck. She was all for Cordelia and Spike.

“You have to swear not to tell anyone, okay?”

“Sure. I’ve gotten a lot better at keeping secrets since my “I cannot hang right now” days.”

Willow was very supportive for the next few days. Cordelia drifted back into the “scooby gang” and it must be confessed, she clung to Willow not a little. She was also, ahem, not all there. It was amazing to everyone around her how her whole life-crisis meant nothing to her anymore, but what could they do?

Cordelia and Willow managed to keep the secret for a lot longer than most would give them credit for. Only one event brought them close to letting the cat out of the bag.
