Part Two

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She stood there, frozen in a trance, until she was brought back to reality by a bang. She stared at where it came from. The emergency door. Catching a stray glance of the dead corspe lying on the ground, she realized that it was Shelby, the brunette waitress who had made countless insults behind her back. Her feet carried her out, into the night, before she could mourn for her.

The instant her hands banged into the tab of the door, a siren sounded. Indifferent to it, she dashed on, following the distingushed poundings of the murderer's feet.

She ran, madly in persue of the guilty, splashing various puddles dotting the alley between the restaurant and the adjacent building. Her hair was a mess, tossled by the wind she created with her speed. Her face was hot, burning with adraline and fury. Her eyes saw nothing but the villan; her ears heard a rhymic, monotonous, cheering that sounded vaguely like the fire alarm.

Within thirty seconds, she had doubled the gap between them when she had first started. After fifteen more seconds, the gap had dwindled to a few yards. Then, it wound down to a few feet.

That was when she jumped on the figure. That was when she started pounding on him, beating on him with all her might, forcing all her grief and anger into him. That was when she heard more sirens, different than the constant luring cheering of the fire alarm.

She pushed all those thoughts of reality away.

She continued pulverizing the killer. She continued dumping all her hardships upon him, concentrating it into his limited body. She started swearing deliriously at him. Then, she started screaming questions. Questions she knew he could not answer: "Why can't you accept that Angel's dead! Why do you have to play this prank on me? Why do you mock me... and Angel?"

She socked him in the face, causing a geyser of blood to squirt out of his nose. She shook him, trying to get him to answer her questions. She shot him a few more punches before her delirium dwindled, bring her back to reality.

She heard footsteps. Urgent footsteps. They were coming at her from both ends of the alley. She glanced at the footsteps' source. Policemen. She noted. She looked up, hoping to find folding stairs like in the movies. Or maybe just a window... or something she could use to escape.

She was stuck. She was sandwiched between two five story brick buildings, being cornered by two troops of cops. Her only resort were her skills.

She advanced towards one band of cops and started fighting them. No sooner had she done that, she felt a blaring pain upon her back. Dots started to cover her vision. Her strength ebbed, then flared, as endorphins flooded into her brain. She delivered a last blow to the cop who shot her, then she fell into darkness.
