G-Man: G-Man

by R A S

I don't own anything but this poem. Joss and the WB own everything else. This poem is written from Giles' point of view and reflects on his love for Jenny, Buffy's job as the slayer, and how Willow is always there when he needs a helping hand. Have fun reading!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I work in the school library,
among the musty old books,
when the paranormal strikes,
I must have a look.
I train Buffy,
put her techniques to the test,
my side job is of course a Watcher,
with all the vampire activity there's never any rest.
When I and my fellow chaps were young,
we brought back a demon who was dead,
he killed all of them,
except Ethan Rayne who should have been taken instead.
I know not where he is now,
nor do I care,
when I least expect it,
he'll be there.
Willow runs the net,
she is a very smart girl,
her hair is bright red,
straight so no curls.
Willow claimed her teaching job,
after Jenny died,
Jenny will have no idea how much I loved her,
or how long I've cried.
I know she betrayed Buffy,
and I award her the blame,
how her tribe sent her here,
how her uncle then came.
I don't know if I can forgive,
if he ever gets out of hell,
I know now he had been cured,
when Willow worked her spell.
It's not up to me,
to tell Buffy who to choose,
I know she still loves Angel,
it's definitely past news.
Joyce may never know,
what her daughter went through,
Buffy could hint,
but she'd never begin to have a clue.
I wish sometimes things were better,
instead of worse,
that Angel had never been one,
to receive that curse.
I would still have hope,
most of the time,
Buffy would be more alert,
instead of in her trance-like state of mind.
I'm not one to dig,
into one's personal life,
to see what is causing,
all of the strife.
So I sit here and wait,
hoping Buffy will return,
to feeling like she did before,
because she will eventually learn.
I go through a book,
of vampire lore,
flip a page,
to see what's in store.
Looks like Sunnydale is once again under attack,
I send the young slayer into battle,
will she be back?
I have faith,
small but near,
to know Buffy will defeat the evil,
before I shed on her behalf a tear.
She may never lead a normal life,
but at least it can be said,
Buffy really comes through,
when Sunnydale happens to contain an abundance of the undead.
