You Can't Run Forever: Part One

Part One
“Watch out!!”
The call rang out across the parking lot of Sunnydale high. Willow hopped backwards out of the football’s trajectory. She picked up the ball and tossed to Percy, who came running up to retrieve it.
“I’m sorry teach, the ball just got loose.”
“It’s okay Percy; you finish the extra work I gave you?”
He smiled and nodded, “Yep, I’ll see you in the library 7th period.”
Willow waved and turned to Oz, her boyfriend of two years. He just smiled and finished loading band equipment from Devon’s car into his van.
“Good morning,” whispered a quiet Drusilla, who had her step-brother on her tail.
“Oh, morning Dru! Morning Lindsey! You know you don’t have to whisper around us,” said Willow trying not to sound to condescending.
“Yeah she knows,” answered Lindsey, “I don’t get either and she been my sister for almost eight years.”
“I don’t like loud noises, you know that!”
“Your voice isn’t a noise Dru. And besides if you hate loud noises how come you date Spike,” countered Lindsey.
Drusilla just smiled dreamily at her brother.
Lindsey shook his head, “I don’t get it. Anyways I heard we got a new girl today.”
“Two actually,” answered Oz after he closed the van doors.
“Two, really? Well that’ll be interesting,” Linds looked around in confusion, “Where’s everyone else?”
“Trouble’s coming,” whispered Dru.
The loud screech of tires was heard nearby. Suddenly a black convertible slammed to a stop beside Oz’s van. Inside were three scared brunettes and one revved up blonde. Slowly Xander, Cordelia, and Angel got out of the car. Spike jumped over the closed driver’s door and walked over to Dru.
He kissed her deeply, “Morning Luv.”
Xander held Cordelia close while she caught her breath and Angel was checking his car for any damage. Seeing none he walked over to his little brother and hit him upside the head.
“You ever drive my car like that again and I’ll kill you. I think Cordy almost had a heart attack.”
Spike moved away from Dru and confronted his older brother, “Hey I got us here in less than five minutes didn’t I?”
Before Spike could say anything else Cordy started hitting him in the chest, “You ever do that to me again I’ll make sure that everyone in this town knows about the cat incident and I guarantee that I can make you the laughing stock of this town. I thought I was going to die; you didn’t give me a chance to put on my seatbelt or anything. I was barely in the car before you started driving. Never again William or my revenge will be great!”
Everyone had backed away from the two during Cordy’s rant and now Xander came up and slowly pulled his girlfriend away before she really killed Spike.
“Wow, now that that’s over finish about the new girls Oz,” said Lindsey.
Everyone who had missed the earlier conversation, because they were near death, looked at Oz for more info.
“Nothing much to tell, they’re from New York and moved out here with their parents, good students, and sisters apparently. The secretary didn’t really know much more then that.”
“How do you always find this stuff out? How come I never know anything?” asked Willow.
The bell inside school rang and slowly the yard and parking lot emptied of people. Unconsciously everyone paired up with their significant other, except Angel and Lindsey who were talking football, and headed inside.
Dru felt something run through right outside the school. She stopped causing Spike to stop.
“What’s wrong ducks?”
“The wind’s changing Spike, something is about to change.”
Spike pulled Dru inside, “Whatever it is we’ll deal just like always.”

The motorcycle pulled into the empty space next to black convertible. Both girls got off and grabbed their bags.
Faith pulled off her helmet, “Nice car. Hey B, you know what this is?”
Buffy took off her helmet, “Yeah it’s a 1967 Plymouth convertible, so what?”
“It’s a beauty that’s all. Come on Miss I spend ten minutes fixing my hair.”
“Oh yeah right Miss I take twenty minutes to pick out an outfit.”
The two girls ran inside the school and toward the office, which was exactly where their father said it would be.
Mrs. Saunders looked up from her paperwork and thankfully didn’t drop her job at the two girls standing in front of her.
“Can I help you?”
“We’re new.”
Buffy shook her head at her sister greeting, “What she means to say is that this is our first day and we need our schedules and things.”
“Your names please.”
“Faith and Elizabeth Giles,” said Faith who was upset with the way Mrs. Saunders kept looking at them.
“Here we go. These are the schedules, locker numbers and combinations, and finally maps to find your way around for the first few days.”
“We have pre-locked lockers?” asked Buffy.
“Yes because we had some reports of theft last year and this way we can open lockers when we need to.”
Buffy and Faith just looked at each other and headed out the door. Once back in the hallway they looked at their schedules, which were somewhat different except for homeroom and three classes, and locker numbers, which were different yet only one apart. They put the paperwork into their bags and headed towards homeroom.
