Till the End: Only the Beginning

Angel, Spike, Gunn, and Illyria watched up and looked at the demons coming toward them. This is what Angel was expecting. There was no way they were going to make it out of this alive. There was defiantly way too many for the four of them to fight and Gunn was not looking that well.

“In terms of a plan?” Spike asked not taking his eyes off the stampede heading their way.

“We fight.” Angel walked forward and watched their opponents, as they got closer.

Spike kept one eye on the group and one eye on Angel. “Bit more specific.”

“Well, personally, I kind of want to slay the dragon.” Angel said as he watched the winged thing fly over the demon group. “Lets go to work.” He attacked the first demon that came toward him. He looked and saw that the others were doing the same thing. Illyria was next to Gunn helping him since he was hurt after fighting Senator Brucker vampires. “Illyria, watch him. Keep him out of harm.” Angel called over to her.

“I will do that.” Illyria said as she cocked her head and hit another demon.

“I can fight just fine, Angel.” Gunn said offensively. “There’s nothing wrong with my game. I just finished off a bunch of vampires.”

“And that’s why you are the way you are.” Angel told him kicking and punching two more demons. “We’re still going to need you and its not going to help us if you’re dead.”

“We’re going to need a lot of help here.” Spike said snapping the neck of the demon on his right. “There is no way we’re going to be able to last very long with all this.”

“I’m not expecting us to, Spike.” Angel ducked as one went for his head and he knocked the things feet out and stabbed it. He saw Illyria block Gunn and take the hit to the face for him. “Illyria, you ok?”

Illyria looked over at Angel as she shook her head. “Fine.”

“Wish we had some help here!” Gunn yelled over the noise the demons were making. Then out of the corner of his eye, he saw something fly pass him and into part of the demon group. He looked behind him and saw someone jump over the fence. “Who is there?”

Spike heard Gunn and turned to see a woman jumping the fence. He could not tell who it was either since it was kind of dark were she was. “Friend or foe?” That is all he could think of saying at the moment.

“You tell me.” A familiar voice said. “I haven’t seen any of you in a while. Which is kind of a good thing cause I’m not exactly happy with the two of you.”

Angel knew the voice and turned in enough time to see Buffy walk out of the shadows. “Buffy, what are you doing here? You shouldn’t be here.”

“Looks who talking.” Buffy said walking up to Angel and punching a demon. “Andrew told me that you two came to Rome to, so call, save me when you heard The Immortal was with me and then hunted me all over the city.”

“It wasn’t like that!” Spike called over to her as flipped another one over on its back and then killed it. “We were looking for some head in order to stop some big demon war from happening here. It just happened to be in Rome.”

“Its true, Buffy.” Gunn said backing up a little. “I’m the one who told them about it and send them there, so to speak.”

“Ok whatever.” Buffy said kicking another demon and breaking the neck of another one. “I can’t believe this. It’s like being in the hellmouth again.”

“Are you the only one here?” Angel stabbed the one on his left and decapitated the one in front of him. “I mean did you come to LA alone?”

“No. Willow, Xander and Dawn are in the Hyperion. I didn’t want to risk them coming out here and getting hurt or even killed.” Buffy said as she roundhouse kicked another demon and send it flying in the air. She then stopped for a second as she heard something above her. It sounded like some kind of flapping. “What was that?” She looked up and saw the dragon coming down at her. Buffy screamed as the dragon grabbed her shoulders and pulled her into the air. “Let go of me!” She tried to hit the thing, but nothing worked. It was pulling her high above the ground.

Angel looked up as he heard Buffy scream and saw her dangling from the dragon’s legs. “Buffy!” He jumped up and grabbed the dragon’s left leg. He tried to force the thing to move toward the hotel’s roof. “Buffy, when I say, dive for the roof.” He saw Buffy nod and started attacking the dragon’s leg. The big thing screeched and let go of Buffy’s left arm. Angel moved as quick as he could to the other leg. “Get ready!” he yelled down to the Slayer. He dug his sword into the dragon’s right leg and the thing totally let go of Buffy. Angel grabbed her hand and waited one more minute. When he could see that they were over the roof, he gave Buffy the word and let go of her. He watched her hit the roof and roll. She looked up waiting for him to come down. Angel did not waste any time. He let go and mirrored Buffy’s actions. The two of them ran to the door and into the hotel.

Spike, Gunn and Illyria watched the whole scene. They were glad to see that Angel and Buffy made it to the hotel all right. That was something they needed to do as well. “We have to find some way out of here and to the hotel.” Spike said beating a demon back.

“I don’t think I’m going to be able to make it over the fence.” Gunn said holding his wound. “I think I’m too weak.”

“I’ll carry you over.” Illyria said pulling Gunn over her back. “You, make sure to keep them off of us.” She told Spike as she headed for the fence.

“You got it, goddess.” Spike said as he turned back around and did his best to fight off the big group. When he saw Illyria and Gunn had made it over, Spike wasted no time and jumped over the fence himself. “Come on. We have to get out of here.”

“I don’t think I can.” Gunn said leaning over. “This hurts too much. The pain is returning.”

“What can we do?” Illyria asked Spike as she watched Gunn.

“Don’t look at me. I am not the leader type. That’s Angel’s job.” Spike said. He then heard something coming quickly in their direction. The trio jumped back as a car pulled in front of them. The side door swung open and Connor was sitting behind the wheel.

“Hurry and get in.” Connor said. “Put Gunn in the front.” Spike and Illyria did as he said and helped Gunn into the passenger seat. Illyria and Spike then jumped into the back and Connor hit the gas and drove toward the hotel. Spike looked and saw they just missed having to fight again. The demons were making their way over the fence. The car sped down the street and to the front of building. After Connor stopped the car, Spike flew out of the door, pulled open Gunn’s door, and helps him out of the seat. Illyria pushed herself out also and ran for the back door. Connor grabbed Gunn’s other side and helped Spike carry him down the path. When they got there, all four walked in and saw Willow with Xander and Dawn. Giles walked out of the office and Angel and Buffy were heading down the stairs. The gang was all there now, which was a good thing. Now they had more people to work with in order to help them stop the demon raid that was after them.
