Almost Everything Out of Life: Prologue
by inlovewithangel
“Xander, you have to.” Willow’s voice was stern.
“She’s fine,” he insisted.
Willow put her hand on her hip and stared at her longest friend, daring her to tell him that Buffy was fine one more time. “She misses him.”
“If Buffy had really wanted to get back together with Angel, she would have.” Xander ran a hand through his black hair.
“You know that’s not true.” Willow’s hazel eyes were blazing. “He’s human now! She wants him, but she’s unsure. Please, just talk to her. She’ll only listen to you.”
“Why do you say that?” Xander asked.
“Because,” Willow explained, rolling her eyes, “you’re her best friend.”
“You’re her best friend too.”
“I’m a girl.” Willow turned around at someone calling her name, and told a slayer named Amber that she would be there in a second. At Giles’ London apartment, where the core Scoobies (plus Dawn) were living, there was always at least three slayers there, wanting to train with Buffy, study with Giles, learn witchcraft with Willow, hang with Dawn, or ogle Xander (who they all seemed to have crushes on.)
“Your point being?” Xander was unsure what Willow was getting at with her gender argument.
“It’s a different dynamic.” Willow turned around and told Amber that Dawn was in her room. “I’ll be there in one second Amber. I promise.”
“Will, I love you, but how do you know she still even loves him?”
“I’m a girl.”
“Again with the girl argument?”
“Please, Xander. She has almost everything she wants out of life. This is the last thing. Help her to find it.” Willow looked at him. “Please.”
Xander threw his hands in the air. “You win Willow. Fine, I’ll talk to her.”
Willow’s face broke into her trademark smile. “Thank you.” She hugged him. “I’m gonna go teach Amber how to do a locator spell now.” Willow turned around, and walked out of the room. Just as she was leaving the room, she called back to him: “You also need to talk to Angel. He’s unsure too. You’re such a good friend.” Then she left.
Xander stared at the doorway for a few minutes shocked. Finally, he was able to yell one word: “What?!”
Willow’s voice wafted from Dawn’s room. “Do it, Xander. Don’t make me tell the aqua man story from kindergarten.”
Xander’s eyes widened. So, who first. Angel or Buffy?
