Chapter 1: The End or the Beginning?

(Warning: All "Buffy" characters and plotlines were created by Joss Whedon and not me. I'm just using one for writing purposes)

Dawn woke up on a cool, clear morning to get ready for school. But as she thought about her Math test, she remembered the fight her mother had with Buffy the night before.
Buffy had told her mother she was a vampire slayer.
Dawn had no idea what that meant, but the way Buffy talked about it made it seem important.
Xander had called from the hospital to let Buffy know that Willow was okay (after they'd been attacked), but he wouldn't say how or why. He just asked if Buffy was around.
When Dawn left her room, she turned the corner in the hallway and saw a note on Buffy's bed. She read it and started to cry.
"Dawn, what are you doing in Buffy's room," Joyce Summers asked. She took the note from Dawn's hands and read it, tears streaming down her face after every line.
"Go call your father," Joyce said. Dawn ran out of the room and Joyce was left alone to contend with the fact that Buffy was gone.

Xander, Willow, Oz, Cordelia, and Giles all sat on the bench outside the high school waiting to see if Buffy would be there. There were only three options; either she was dead, Angelus was dead, or the spell worked and they were together somewhere. All Xander could think about was why in the hell Buffy would want to be with that murderer after everything he'd done to her. Not just to her, but to Giles. Angelus had killed the woman Giles was in love with. It left a bad taste in Xander's mouth.

Buffy sat on the bus as it drove by the sign; "Now Leaving Sunnydale...Come Back Soon!" She knew it would take a long time for her to be able to return to her home, to her family, to her friends. She took her wallet out of her bag and flipped through pictures inside; photographs of Xander, Willow, and Giles. There was also a photograph of her mother and Dawn. But then she went through them further and found a picture of her and Angel together at her birthday party. She quickly tore it up and threw the remaining pieces out the window, determined to leave that part of her life far behind her as she headed out of town...
