In Love: Part 1: An odd ally

" God, I can't sleep again. Anymore of this insomnia and I'm a dead woman. I have a stinking science test tomorrow." Buffy said sitting down across from Xander in the cafeteria.
" Why can't you sleep?" Xander asked munching on a bagel. He personally thought Buffy looked gorgeous, with or without sleep, but even he had to admit she did look a little "off".
" I don't know. These dreams I've been having may be one of the causes." Buffy snapped. She was in no mood to answer stupid questions!
Xander whistled. " Sleeping beauty isn't so beautiful without sleep is she?" He asked Willow and Oz who had just walked up with trays of food.
“Leave her alone, come on have a little sympathy.” Oz said surprising Buffy. She couldn’t remember a time when he had stood up for her like that.
“What?” Xander asked just as surprised. He felt a pang of jealousy.
Buffy and Oz? Xander asked himself, Nah. Oz and Willow are too much in love for him to even notice Buffy, he told himself.
Meanwhile Buffy was staring across the table at Oz, wondering why he had come quickly to her defense.
“ Buffy are you ok?” Willow asked seeing her staring off into space.
“Yeah, I’m fine. You know I think I’m going to go. I should go do some studying. Bye guys.” Buffy said standing. Before anyone could protest she was gone striding out of the cafeteria.
“ You think she’ll really go study?” Willow asked staring after Buffy’s back.
Xander shook his head. “ Nope. She’s going to go crash in the library behind a shelf of books. Giles will find her at the end of the day, having missed all her classes he’ll send her home where she’ll call you wanting the notes from her classes. Trust me I know that woman well.”
“Obviously not well enough.” Oz mumbled under his breath, but Xander heard him.
“ What was that, Ozzy?” Xander asked using Oz’s pet name.
“ I’ve got to go.” Oz said coolly. He stood and kissed Willow on the cheek, then without a backward glance he used Buffy’s route, leaving Xander and Willow staring after him
