One Year Ago: Prologue

Prologue

January 1, 1998

It was just another night of slaying for Buffy Summers. Angel watched her from a distance. It was just a normal night (Well as normal as it gets in Sunnydale). Buffy had no way of knowing it wasn't a regular night. She had no way of knowing it would be her last night. Angel had thought she had everything under control. It was a slow night. Only one vamp. Angel decided to go home. He was very tired. He hadn't gotten much sleep in the lasy three days. Finally sleep was catching up to him. He left Buffy alone. He had no idea how much he would regret that decision.

He started walking the other way. When he had only been walking for 5 minutes when he heard it. A sound he would never ever forget. A sound that pierced his heart like nothing in all his 242 years. Buffy had screamed. She screamed again. He ran so fast to where he left her. A net had come down on him. It didn't trap him but it slowed him down. Every second counted now.

Then he saw her. Laying on the pavement. He saw a figure running in the distance. Why Angel chased it was beyond him. But he did. And he cost Buffy 2 minutes. Maybe if he had just attended her she would be here now. But he didn't. He chased it. And when he came back to her after giving up on the figure she was gone. Nowhere to be found. He scearch everywhere until he was forced to go home a sunrise. She had disappeared.

It was one year later and Buffy was declaired dead. The whole town of Sunnydale looked. She was gone. But there was 6 people who didn't believe that. Angel, Willow, Xander, Giles, Miss Calendar, and Cordelia. Buffy's parents hoped and prayed but now even they were getting doubtful.

When Giles, Angel, Willow, Xander, Miss Calendar, and Cordelia were in the library on January 1, 1999 the were shocked, surprised, and overjoyed when they saw a petite blond enter the library at sundown.

Something was wrong though. She didn't reconize them.
