Legacy: Part 2

The only claims I make are to the character Eden and the story plot. Everything thing else belongs to Joss Whedon and his crew. Enjoy.

Part Two

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The real Buffy came flying down the street, her hair in disarray. "Hey, what's going on? You guys were supposed to be at my house fifteen minutes ago. I started to get worried when you didn't show up."

Her friends looked at her and then back in the direction when the girl had vanished. "Okay, now I'm confused." Xander muttered."Two Slayers?"

Buffy frowned. "Huh? Kendra's back in town?"

Angel shook his head. "Not two Slayers, two Buffys." He seemed extremely disturbed by that fact.

Buffy glanced to Willow who looked just as baffled as everyone else. "Hmm...two Buffys, and three Slayers." She muttered.

"What!?" Buffy yelled in fustration, startling everyone and waking a few neighbors. A man opened his window and shouted out at the group. Buffy immediately apologize and suggested they start back to her house.

Upstairs in her room, everyone took seats on the floor or bed as Willow recounted the story of their run-in with Buffy's look-alike. "Xander and I were attacked--I'm really starting to hate this town--when you or rather someone who looks like you saved us. She called herself the Slayer."

"She looks like you and sounds like you." Xander added. Buffy wasn't worried, rather she was angry.

"She doesn't fight like her though." Angel sat on the floor, thinking aloud. "She's got the strength and the technique but it was clear that she enjoyed playing with her prey. Like a cat with a mouse."

His girlfriend made a disgusted face. "So what are you saying? My look-alike is a sadist?" Angel shrugged. Buffy eyed all of them regretfully. "I guess movie night is off then, huh? We'd better call Giles."

It was nine o'clock over at Giles' place when his phone rang. The Watcher was in his kitchen washing dishes and Ms. Calendar was standing beside him drying. Seeing his soapy hands, she put down her towel and said, "I'll get it."

Jenny walked over to the phone, picked it up and answered, "Hello?"

There was a moment of stunned silence on the other end. Then a tentative voice asked, "Miss Calendar?"

She refrained from laughing out loud then said, "Yes, it's me. Who's this?"

"This is Buffy. I was wondering if I could talk to Giles. It's really important...unless of course he's busy."

"It's okay, I'll get him. Jenny laid down the receiver. "Rupert? Its Buffy. Here, let me finish the dishes." She watched as he picked up the phone. From the kitchen she could hear bits and pieces of the conversation.

"Attacked! Are they okay?...That's good...another Slayer,is it Kendra?" Rupert was saying. "She looks like you...we'll meet in fifteen minutes." He hung up and strode back into the kitchen where Jenny was putting away plates. "We have to go to the library."

She gave him a worried look. "What's wrong?"

"It seems that there is a Buffy look-alike running around doing the Slayer's job. Willow and Xander were attacked tonight. We need to go."

Jenny nodded. "Of course, but we're taking my car." Rupert glared, he loved his car.

"Nothing! Absolutely nothing." Giles said fustrated. He had consulted every book he had and found nothing. He glanced over to the computer where Willow and Jenny were working. Jenny Calendar looked at him and shook her head sadly.

At the table nearby, Xander and Cordelia were studying a large volume on past Slayers. Buffy had called Cordelia earlier to ask for a ride to school. The cheerleader then stayed to help.

In the office, Buffy had fallen asleep on Angel while he read a legendary text called the Avalon Grimoire. He glanced to his girlfriend occasionally and smiled. Then he shifted her to cradle her in his lap, her head resting in the crook of his neck.

"Angel, where's Buffy--oh!" Giles was startled by the sight in his office. He recovered quickly and whispered, "Have you found anything, yet?" The vampire shook his head.

Buffy twisted in her sleep. "No, don't go there. Stay with me." She mumbled. "Angel! Help me!" She awoke in mid-scream. Angel dropped the book--Giles flinched at that--and immediately embraced the Slayer tightly.

"Shh...it's just a dream. You're safe." Buffy drew comfort from him as Giles touched her shoulder.

"Buffy, are you okay?" Giles inquired softly and she looked up at him.

"The nightmare I told you about? I had it again except this time I could see the faces of the tortured." She shuddered and Angel held her closer to him, kissing her cheek. She didn't need to tell them that the faces belonged to her friends and family.

"Do you remember any other details of the dream?" Buffy heard Giles ask. She looked up once more.

"Yeah. One of the torture victims had my face. It was like watching with someone else's eyes as I was fed off by a vampire and then tied to an alter." She spoke tonelessly. "The vamps were chanting a name."

That got Giles' attention. "What was the name?"

"Bacchus."

The Watcher went pale. "Oh my."

"What's wrong?" Angel demanded.

"Bacchus is the Roman name for Dionysus, God of Wine and Pleasure. Except Bacchus had decidedly darker side. His form of wine was blood."

"So what does the dream mean?" Buffy needed to know.

"I don't know." Giles said truthfully.

Buffy's emotions were so raw after the nightmare. Her state, coupled with Giles truthful admission equaled tears. Angel glared at the Watcher, silently communicating to him to shut up. Aloud, he said, "Find out."

Giles immediately left. When he was gone, Buffy faced Angel. "I don't want to die. Not again. Promise me that if this dream has even a remote chance of coming true, you'll--"

"Don't say it." Angel cut across her words. "Whatever is happening, we'll beat it." He didn't say it but he included everyone of their group in new fight. "We'll beat this," he said more softly. " I promise you."

She smiled. "I love you." Their eyes held for a long moment. When Giles peeked in on them a minute later, they were locked in a kiss. He heard Angel's murmur as he was discreetly turning away.

"I love you too."
